"teardown" meaning they would have to modify the hub? or they would just have to disassemble it a bit to get it on, then put it back together?

Thats what I thought, I just don't want to worry about changing backspacing if I get the gussets. Hopefully it won't be an issue if I upgrade to 285s either.

I never said I wouldn't. Would you feel awful selling a truck to an alcoholic who kills 4 innocent teenagers in a DUI accident? Of course you would. I fail to see how feeling bad combines with being criminally liable when this applies to firearms. The law supports my stance on this topic as well.

Do you get a full criminal background & driving record before selling your vehicle to a motor vehicle to a private party buyer? After all, they're FAR more likely to kill someone innocent with it than the firearm I sell.

"Who'll think o da chirrens?"

    Uhm....

In selling a gun to someone, you wanna make sure that they are allowed to have one, and have training in how to use it, hence where checking the permit comes in.

In selling a car to someone, you wanna make sure they are allowed to drive one and have training in driving one, hence you ask for a DL and Insurance.

    Checking both lowers your liability.

Yes, you are welcome to request a CCW and full background for sale of a firearm and driving record and criminal background for an automobile sale. As the seller that's your prerogative. It is NOT required by law and as such you will likely scare off many buyers. This is a sticking point with me as I feel that our government intervention has gone WAY beyond what is required for a society to exist and thrive. As such, requiring additional paperwork or steps to propagate the sale of a firearm is a pet peeve of mine. I think our government already has WAY too much control in most things of our daily lives and feel as though this does NOTHING to curb violence so when I see some people asking for more than what's required by law I feel the need to clarify for others reading that this is NOT required by law (as I've stated here) and that the seller is perfectly free to ask for whatever they want (which I've also stated here) since it's their item. Most people don't know what's required for the sale of a firearm and when I see someone in a general forum requiring a CCW and someone else asking why I feel the need to clarify. That's all I've done here. The rest of the topical chatter was from others asking questions.

Exactly. The very idea that a previous owner can be held liable for another humans actions with an item they sold to them is foolish. Not sure why some think it's the way things should be with firearms when it applies to nothing else.

That's fine but personally I won't buy from someone who is asking for more than the law requires as a personal stance. Plenty of guns to buy out there so I'll find from another buyer based on principal. The thought that we can curb gun violence by having an untrained civilian look at what might be a DL or CCW permit for a half second is silly. I mean, heaven forbid we hold the person doing the dirt accountable for their actions these days.

As you can tell, this is a hot point with me.

The seller was a local police officer, he knew what he was asking for and why, and could identify it.

    Okay, edited for accuracy...

I took some artistic license with that portion of my post but the point still remains.

Yes. Remove things that would get damaged by the welding.
High Country says they can do it on the truck still. But the more I think about it the amount of tear down required to do that you might as well just remove them.
Wait what were we talking about again?:p

I might be reading this wrong, and I apologize if I am...but from what Im reading you would go to a different firearm seller merely b/c they were asking more than what the law requires? (Which I believe is selling a firearm to someone who isn't allowed to be in possession of one)

For a private party firearm sale in the state of Colorado all that's required is that the seller ask if the buyer is a state resident & able to legally own firearms. If a seller states they want a signed bill of sale or a copy of a CCW for instance I wont buy from them out of principal. I may explain what is actually required but beyond that I refuse to deal with those who require more paper trail than is required by law. Nobody asks to see a driver's license when they sell a car to a private party even though they're required to drive the car away so why should firearms (even though you don't NEED a CCW to buy) be any different? Why am I not required by state law to ask someone buying a motorcycle from me if they have their motorcycle endorsement let alone a valid drivers license or criminal record? The bullshit feel good laws surrounding firearms need to stop & perpetuating this idea, even when not required, also needs to stop.
