Really? I do, and people ask me for mine. And a bill of sale is pretty much standard across the board. I mean there are even forms at the DMV called "Colorado Motor Vehicle Bill of Sale"

You're confusing my statements as the bill of sale talk was a gun sales scenario. Bill of sale is required for vehicle registration but you aren't required to get a copy of (or even ask to see) a valid driver's license.

Well, kinda seems a little jacked to sell a car to a guy who's not allowed to drive it don't ya think? Wouldn't you wanna know that the guy you sold the car to isn't revoked HTO, Suspended for Lack of Liability Insurance or Lack of Payment of Child Support? Or god forbid, Revoked DUI Per Se .08. Not saying you gotta run the guy, just make sure he has a fuckin DL.

Pretty sure I'd feel a little bit more safe selling a vehicle to a guy that I know is current and valid and authorized to drive.

I mean if you don't and you sell a car to a guy that is all those things mentioned, makes an easy arrest for me cuz I pull the dude over for having no temp tag and no license plates. And if you shit is still on there, he gets a ticket for fictitious plates also, and his car gets towed.

No, because I'm pretty sure that the bill of sale paper I mentioned was for a motor vehicle :p

Again, you're confusing what I'm saying. In that instance it's not required by law & most don't look at it. Mainly because it's not their responsibility once the sale is complete. Why should a seller of a firearm be liable for what the buyer does with it? Sounds like a bullshit feel good law that does no good to me. I know I feel safe.

You are confusing what I'm saying because the only time I mentioned a bill of sale was in the imaginary scenario where I was describing a firearm sale.

I realize that you mentioned the bill of sale in regards to a firearm sale. I also realize that you feel someone asking for proof of weapons training/authorization to purchase or carry in a private party sales involving firearms is perpetuating feel good laws. Which is a point I understand, and consequently disagree with.

In all of your conversations regarding firearms, I would put you at the top of the list to ensure that the person you are selling to is qualified and authorized to own weapons. Perhaps it is my cynical distrust of human nature to lie, but I don't trust a person stating on an email that he is authorized to purchase/own a weapon.

The fact that you will explain the "lawful requirements" (which you have not cited) and subsequently blow off an "untrained civilian seller" attempting to cover all his bases smacks of a level of arrogance. The civilian is not the system, if you disagree with the system, take it up with the system, not the untrained civilian attempted to do what he feels is right and upstanding as the seller of a firearm.

Being as this is a classifieds thread I'm not going to attempt to explain myself any further. I thought I was pretty clear as to what my initial post was trying to convey but now I see that wasn't the case so I'm done trying.

He was not asking for you life story. It was CO ID which you need in Colorado. Or if out of state a CCW permet just to show something, is the way I read it. I see nothing wrong. OST did you type up an encyclopedia when you emailed him because that could have been it. :) either way, oh well Arron beat us to the one we all wanted. :)
