I'm sure Ben is trying to get it right. There is a market for this and to not patent it and protect his investment and idea would be stupid on his part.

He's a great guy and it will be worth the wait. I love mine. Ben even installed it.

I know someone earlier in this thread got burned for suggesting this but I'm surprised no one has taken the initiative to build their own. It's a rather simple mechanism and parts can be purchased online or at a wreckers for relatively cheap.

I dont see how it could even be patentable. Many other manufactureres having power sliding wondows. Its not a new concept.

And the only infringement if it was patented wouldbe if you made them and sold them. You could make as many as you wanted for your own personal use.

Flamed for suggesting you go out and buy your own parts??? Seriously?

Another member a couple years before Ben started this thread put his own together and documented it quite well. No offense to Ben, but this isn't an original idea. Ben was the first to kit it for resale - nothing more. And the price he charged is well worth it to avoid the aggravation of making up your own if you're not good at modding.

Here's the older thread to an earlier version of a power option:

Wasn't he already selling them here at one point? Wouldn't that count as selling them as per your reference?

he could still sell things under a patent pending status. Maybe he is just busy these days, or does not want to do it anymore.

Yeah like somebody mentioned, Ben does go away for a while at a time due to his work. An update would be nice and admittedly people have been eagerly waiting, but shit happens in life and at least he didn't take anybody's $$ or make any hard commitments. He's even offered to help install the mod on his own time so his service is great. Hopefully he'll put it back on his radar when he returns :) In the meantime patiently waiting, Ben.

Hi all, just read through some of the recent replies and seems like emotions are running high since the last I checked in. I haven't posted in a while because I've been busy with my normal job and haven't had any good news to post, and frankly I hate the feeling of stringing people along when I don't have any new information to share. You all deserve an update on things at the very least.

I wish I could say that the new hidden version kit will be released soon, but unfortunately due to unforseen challenges in production, I cannot say that it will be released soon.

I am going back to selling the original non-hidden version, by popular demand.

The newer full hidden version that I have been hoping to put to market will not be available for a long while due to above mentioned challenges.

So for those who haven't "given up", and for those who can deal with my "inflated prices" as one poster claimed :p lol, I can take your order right now for the same price that I sold kits for in the past -- $184 plus shipping.

To be clear, the kit I will resume selling is the one that requires trimming the passenger side rear storage bin in Double Cabs, and is not readily compatible for Access Cabs. Sorry AC folks.

The new design that is fully hidden and that is designed to work with Access Cabs or Double Cabs will come around at some point, but I'm not even going to try to predict when that will be given the current circumstances. Could be several months or more. It's a bummer, but I don't want to bullshit anybody.

If you want to order the original kit, suitable for Double Cabs only, please send a PM to order.

    Thanks,
    Ben

Sorry man, I feel bad about it. I really hope it's soon. It's frustrating to know from prototypes that it works so well, but has been such a challenge to get out to market.
