I'm with the guy who said get a heavy duty come along.. get one rated for a few 1000 pounds. That way if you need it, you can get out of a tough spot, it might just take longer.
but its like a 1/10 of the price

It sounds to me like you would never use it offroad, and may use it a couple of times in the next five years around the house.

I will tell you this though - the first time you use it offroad, you will be satisfied with your investment. Not having to walk out, call a tow truck, and pay an enormous hourly fee for offroad recovery that will take 100 times longer than if you had just winched yourself out from the start is worth it.

I would jump on that deal. I live in Colorado and I DO wheel, and have wished many times I had a winch rather than a come along. A hidden hitch and a receiver mounted winch plate will be my setup as soon as I can afford it.

So if he passes and you feel like shipping to Colorado then let me know.

Badass deal, but then i'd have to put a heavier suspension in. I think I'll pass.

    Thanks

You realize the front hitch doesn't weigh a lot, and you only have to put the winch cradle in when you want to use it, right? No need for suspension upgrades with that setup, its not a plate bumper.

No, he's talking about a front hitch - basically a trailer hitch the goes behind your factory bumper. Then a cradle for the winch that will slide into it (or your rear trailer hitch) and get pinned in place.

Got mine at undercoverhwms. Works great. Used it to get out of the mud once. (I've only had the truck and winch a few months) I use it to pull fence, lift the mower up for blade sharpening etc. Nice tool to have.

It's one of those things, if you don't have an insanely lifted and locked truck or buddy's to wheel with a winch is your best friend. You can put a winch on a corolla and drag it through Moab.

It will get you further down the trail if nothing else because of confidence knowing that you can try the obstacle and get through it knowing you can winch out. How many of us have pulled up to a mud hole on a trail, stared at it, then backed up and looked for another trail?
