I know that boot is on each shock but I don't know if that metal piece is on each one.

    There is 2 possibilities.

You are either missing the washer that goes under the top plate or you are missing the metal bushing that goes inside the black plastic boot.

I don't guess you have a picture of the bushing that goes inside the boot you are talking about do you? If you look close at the pictures I posted there is a black ring around the top of the rubber boot then the top washer is sitting on that. That black ring and the rubber boot felt like one piece to me when I grabbed it and moved it.

I had mine installed and they completely left out the top rubber spacer and it was clanking as soon as I left the shop and hit a bump took me 15 sec to see it was missing. How in the world can shops hire idiots like this when you pay $75/hr to have these installed??? Had to wait another hr for them to find the damn bushing and reinstall.:eek:

Whatever is missing or broke on mine is not visible everything is there on the top side that I can see. Its under the plate that i'm not sure of.

It's hard to tell what's missing when its' not in front of us, but clearly something has to be missing during their install. I think the best option would be to disassemble the driver side and double check it.

$75/hr? Try $100-120/hr in some cities...

The thing that I don't understand is, installing a 5100 should be no different than installing a Monroe or OEM replacement shock. It's something a mechanic would do on a routine basis.

Yea its like $90 an hour here for me. He quoted me $180 so i'm going to do my best to hold them to it.

Well I don't know what the problem was and neither do they. They took the shock assembly apart and put a new shock I had sent to me back in just like the old one and everything went back together fine. I don't know what to say??

That looks great! I'm glad to see that everything worked out. Hopefully, they didn't charge you anything extra.

Thanks! I was scared they were going to but they are good people and i've spent a ton of money in that shop with other cars so i'm sure that helped. They only charged me what they originally quoted me.

Can't wait to buy these wheels when they are back in stock. They look great on the MGM!!! Glad you got all that taken care of.

Did you get a chance to compare the old shock and the new one side by side?
