Hey guys, I'm fairly new to PA and just bought a '13 DCSB TRD Sport 4x4. I have a quick question about what (if any) rust prevention products you are using on the underside of your Tacos. Please don't tell me to use the search buttom I've performed multiple searches and read dozens of threads, but I'm curious what local PA folks are actually using. I'm OCD about my vehicles and always thoroughly clean them (inside, outside and beneath) multiple times throughout the winter, but the amount of salt they use on the roads out here is insane! I'm in the Philly area so if you can recommend a product/facility in this area that would be great. Many thanks!

 

I don't do shit personally, but I've seen alot of people speak highly of Fluid Film.

 

I've heard it's not needed on the new Tacomas, but idk if that's true or not

 

Not a damn thing. power wash the crap out every once in a while and wait for the frame recall Toyota builds good trucks but the frames rust out sooner or later.

 

This. Depending on temp, and how much salt I've been driving on, I'll hit the do it yourself wash and power wash it off. This is my 4th winter with the truck, and no real rust to speak of.

 

I pressure wash my truck about every 2 weeks in winter. Costs me about $10 every time I do it because I crawl under and spray hell out of everything

 

If my frame rusts Toyota replaces it. IDGAF

 

What do you mean if?

 

I got $11,970.00 from Toyota the last time...

 

With my luck, I would be one of the first, and Toyota would refuse to replace it. Then, my truck would break in half.

 

I got almost exactly the same amount. And only made 3 payments!

 

For some reason the only thing not rusting on my truck is my frame.

 

Absolutely nothing. I keep it clean, but life gets in the way and I can't clean it as often as I would like. When the roads are wet & salty, I don't bother to clean it until things dry up. I'm lucky if I wash it twice in the winter.

My truck is 6 years old and still in very great shape. I'll probably buy another one in 4-5 years anyway.... Personally, I'm not worried about the rust. It's the mechanicals I take a higher priority with.

My 06 has normal light frame rust for its age being 7 yrs old. I bought it 2yrs old with 30k.. I usually wash it 2 times a month during the winter and 2-4 a month in spring thru fall. Other than that and the hitch shes clean.

 

For your own piece of mind and if you are really that worried about it then have it sprayed by a bedliner company. I just went under after I first got it and lined it with spray cans of undercoat and rolled the frame with herculiner holding up well so far.
