hahaha yeah... ;) Read a TLT post on TTORA a while back on how to fit 14s w/o going thru the bed, and ever since then, I wanted to try it. They did it for a LT taco, so the angles weren't as harsh as mine and their bottom mounts stuck out a lot more on the bottom, but it gave me a good idea as too wether or not I could make it work.

    Nice!!

Although, I think I'm changing my mind on 404s.... Seems like they have too many issues with weak portal boxes, and while 406/416s would be a lot stronger and have more options as far as gear ratios, thet're very rare and expensive! Thinking u1300's is the way to go..... (from a unimog 435) might be overkill though.... Still researching everyday. I've got a lot too learn..

But I think I'm set on some unimog axles for my next taco build..... can't beat the clearance! :D

    unimog 406 with 48" (true diameter) tires.... (yeah, that's a 5 gal bucket.) ;)

That is what I was looking into, I was wondering how well those would hold up. Since I could throw those on some Dana60's and could probably just stick with junkyard diff gears and axles since they cut down on the torque on your axles and diff gears.

If I found some D60's with 3.73's that would give me a 5.59:1 ratio and if I killed the 3.73's then I could just go try to find another set for cheap in a junkyard.

Bolt on with junkyard 60s or custom.
    Would be nice either way.

Never been a fan of unimogs. One tons are where it's at, unless there is an unlimited budget. Then maybe some fab nines or torq 14s:D

    Sick!
Yeah... lotsa money and parts can be rare. Those torq14s are :puke:

Pretty sure a stock u-1300 is stronger than a built dana 60.... They compare u-1300s to 5 ton axles afterall
