Look into the rear wheel well and you can see the side of the bed.

Yeah I did HEAPS of research on these beds before I bought the truck because I was a little skeptical about the bed. Very very few have had problems, in fact I only came across 2 that were not because of an accident and those boiled down to user error.

I have thought about doing putting down some kind of do it yourself liner simply for the traction and the fact that when you do take a little plastic off the bed that it is white underneath and eventually starts to look like crap. I figure doing the liner will at least keep it looking uniform and keep crap from sliding around too bad if not tied down which can be a pain in the ass if your only moving stuff a short distance. If you have anything with a slippery surface(ie metal or wood) in the bed even babying the throttle often times does no good in helping keep sh*t in place.

I agree. The bed is just too damn slippery. A little moisture and it turns into an ice rink. I'll probably line it myself with Herculiner or the like.

    It's a truck bed.

Better than some other brands with metal beds (easy to stratch, rust, etc), or pay extra for Line-X when you buy it to prevent those same problems.

Dont drag sharp objects across it, or put something down to cover it. All bed materials will eventaully scratch or gouge.

It means exactly what he said... If you use the truck like a truck, it'll get scratched, same thing can be said of a painted metal bed. If you don't want scratches in a painted metal bed, you get bedliner. If you don't want scratches in the composite bed, get bed liner. Personally, I haven't had any issues with either one, the composite bed is holding up just fine as far as I'm concerned.

BTW, someone deserves credit on a nice thread revival

FYI and FWIW: The Honda Ridgeline also has a composite/plastic bed--no metal--and it works as well as the bed in the Tacoma.

No way I would ever go back to a steel bed they suck so what if it scratch's the scratch is the same color and it won't rust. what the hell is the sense of having a truck if your afraid you'll get a little scratch in the plastic bed?
