It would only happen once after braking to a stop without letting up on the brakes until a complete stop. After the complete stop and you let up on the brakes if you had a small bump at that point then axle wrap. It it still bumps a few times after stop by pressing the brakes i am not sure. But if you are at a complete stop and have the bumping i don't see how it could be the brakes. Maybe something with the clutch/torque converter? Don't know if you have man/auto transmission.

Maybe the truck is pissed you keep calling it a car?,lol jk. I have a 2013 dc sr5, have 1500 miles on it. Every once in a while hear noises some from brake then middle and left side of dash. If it keeps up will bring it up at my 5 k service. That's why im glad I bought the 100k warranty just in case down the road issues arise. Good luck bro

I have a 4 day old 2013 dbl cab 4x4 TRD Offroad and I have the same "squeaky" brake pedal. Although it isn't so much of a squeak, it's more the sound of a hydraulic piston like when you let the jack down really fast under a car.

I also assumed it was due to the hydraulic brake booster.

Well, actually now that i think of it I have noticed a bit of axle wrap upon quick acceleration.

    There's a TSB for this?

Today was my appointment at the service center. The shop foreman test road along with me and said the the clicking at startup is feedback from the abs self check, the squeaky/air seeping sound is something that is on the fj cruisers and the hydraulic assist as well. We were more concerned with addressing the thumping which is happening multiple times every time I drive.

We spent two hours looking for my model of truck on the back lot and the sales lot. We found a difference in the actuators on the 4x4 off road from every other model of the tacoma. He said what I am experiencing may be due to this difference in the abs actuator. We finally found my car with my actuator and it was a manual instead of automatic, go figure.

So I am now waiting for them to get another one of my exact my car in so I can test drive it with the "shop foreman" to compare. He assured me that my car is safe to drive and will be calling me when it comes in. He also said that he is almost positive that the car I end up test driving will do the same things because the abs do all sorts of "funny things." So it was just a big waste of everyones time. He also stated that my actuator is an option, however it must come with the off road package with the 4x4 because I did not select or see this option??

I took a picture of my actuator below. It has a computer attached to it etc. Maybe some of you have this in your 2013 4x4 off road dbl cb? You should because I know I did not select this as an option or see it as an upgrade. I would like to know if any of you that have my specific model of tacoma are experiencing any of what I am experiencing?

We'll I at least know its not normal. I just wish I knew what it was and Toyota wasn't wasting my time waiting on a test drive when they get another one of my Tacoma's in.

Just remember it is a truck and not a Mercedes Benz or Bentley.

Things like little noises here and there are not a concern on a simple $30,000 truck. And when it comes down to it, it is just that an inexpensive truck. (sure i paid out the ass for for mine in my opinion).

Now if it was a $150,000 Merc it had better not have lots of little annoying noises.

But in the end its what ever makes you happy. Just don't expect Mercedes quality out of a Toyota.

Just my 3 cents for you.

And in the end if something breaks that's what the warranty is for.

Just make sure you do the truck break in correctly. I have done that with my last three new vehicles and have had good success.

Would you elaborate on this process please? I'm about to get my first ever new vehicle, 4x4 Sport DCLB, and would like to do the right things.

    general purpose break-in recommendo

    don't tow inside 1000 miles

don't maintain same rpm's for 1000 miles, vary it a bit
vary the rpm's...drive easy mostly...., but also WOT on highway on-ramps once in a while
[when no traffic is around] will do it some good

There are some who would prefer to use only low power during the break-in period.
This is not recommended. A good break-in requires that the piston rings expand sufficiently to seat with the cylinder
walls during the engine break-in period. This seating of the ring with the cylinder wall will only occur when pressures inside the cylinder are great enough to cause expansion of the piston rings. Pressures in the cylinder only become great enough for a good break-in when
power settings above 65% are used.

Full power during the break-in period is not harmful; it is beneficial

    don't jam the brakes

don't carry huge loads inside 1000 miles
    ---
for your offroad and traction options, exercise those systems.

find a place (a dirt strip or patch, do not go fast at all...just something loose so 4wd won't bind)
to engage and activate 4hi, 4lo, and e-locker if you have it. gotta work them a bit
every now and then, and when NEW, that is a good time to do it...loosen it all up

Thats normal that has happened on all my tacomas the dealership is just going to send you on your way if they know better. Then theres that pulsating check after you first start and take off, thats normal as well.

I have a 2012 TRD Offroad and I experience the clicking noise you're talking about. I hear it
after a few seconds of initially starting the truck. It's usually when I've backed up a few feet out of my parking spot and then begin pulling forward at around 5 mph. I notice uneven brake pressure as well even when my foot doesn't move up or down on the brake pedal. No thumping, however. Truck has 19k miles and had it in for service two days ago and everything checked out. Getting the drivetrain vibration from 1st-2nd gear TSB done this weekend.

It is the Abs self check that is making the initial click I know that. It is the thumping sensations that I can feel in the brake pedal multiple times each engine cycle. No one here is experiencing the same thing and no one at the service center has heard of it before. They have resorted to a ttest drive of another car with my actuator depicted above to see if the same thumping occurs. This is not the ABS self check its something else and that's what's concerning me most of all.

Just had my brand new 2013 TRD Sport at the dealer today for the same brake pulsating problem. Mine has 500 miles now and I felt the pulsating when I took it from the lot. Called the dealership and they told me to keep driving for a week and it should go away. Well it didn't so I took it in. The rotors needed cut from the truck sitting on the lot and surface rust build up. I told them I wanted new rotors installed AND new brake pads. They ordered new rotors and pads and cut the rotors for me until the new ones arrive. It now feels perfect with the cut rotors but I'm still getting the new rotors and pads installed since the truck is NEW.

Similar truck, no such problem. Nice choice on the color.
