well i guess it depends on how shallow you need it there are the kicker comp 10 they have a mounting depht of 4inch and the speakers i use RE audio the 8's have a mounting depht of 4inch and the 10 are 5 inch that's what i am using they sound great but i think a 3 inch mounting depht is hard to find

Yeah, I just found these pioneer subs with a 3" mounting depth, and ive heard they sound pretty descent. Do you know if I would have to take off the plastic on the seats with this sub, If I custom build a box?

it depends on how much room you have between the enclouser and the seat if they are to close it wont sound good because speakers need room i had this problem at first when i did my install then i took the plastic off the back of my seats and it sounds great

I've used those subs in several of the double cab trucks and they sound very good IMO. They are actually designed to work in very tight spaces (those channels on the cone help keep the sub from pre-loading when placed close to an obstruction) and in any case you do not have to remove the rear seat plastic if the enclosure is built properly. :)

I have two kicker SL5 8" woofers and they sound great. I'll go post some pics now and see what you think.
