Are you assembling the lower end, or having a shop do it?

I'm just gonna have a shop do it. I got my pistons .5 over so they are going to need to bore it over, hot tank it, and rebalance the crank.

That will be a nice bump up in litre size. ^_^

Ha not soo much my friend. It's .5mm oversize.

Stock: 86mm bore and 86mm stroke- 86^2*pi/4=area of piston. Area*stroke* number of cylinders/1000000=2.997 liters

New pistons are only 86.5mm bore which comes out to 3.0323 liters. :(

    Massive! ;)

Oh yeah. Make sure to ask them that they are boring the cylinders to .004" over that of the pistons. Give you proper room for expansion of those forged pistons.

Is that serious?? I am no engine builder....I can work on them but when I comes to those kind of tolerances I am not the professional.
Should I tell this guy that?? I mean he knows what he's doing and built the LS in my buddy's truck that laid down 750hp.

For forged pistons, that is the industry standard clearance, with boost. Otherwise if it is any tighter, you run the high probability of piston slap, once they heat up. Especially with boost.

I am sure that he knows what he is doing though, if he has been building performance engines for a while. More for you to know, if you really wanted to.

So what exactly is the point of boring? I understand that is is to increase your engine's displacement, but I just looked into it some and it looks like .060" over bore is about as big as bores get and even on a v8 that hardly nets much of an increase. On the 1GR-FE that would only net us a 0.13L increase. Looks like the stroker kit like Torspd has is the best way to increase displacement.

I'm doing it just to have fresh cylinder walls. I would rather bore out a little then buy stock bore pistons an find out there is scarring.

What are you going to do with the rear weight wise to ensure the truck actually hooks up?

Alright one of the reasons Im making this thread is to tell people the pros and cons of the build, as well as say what parts work best and what parts are flukes.

The stubby antenna from Craver Speed is a great looking antenna, but where I live (Baton Rouge LA), I had 6 channels programmed on my factory radio and now only 1 of those comes in clear and another comes in but very patchy.

Also picked up my drop kit that I ordered from XII Performance, parts look like they are in great shape and quality stuff.
This is not a big deal, but when you are a company that 99% of your business is targeted to a narrow group of truck owners, then you would think that you would want to advertise as much as possible to capture that small market that you appeal to.
In the drop kit I ordered XII did not include any stickers or advertising products. :(
Not really a big deal, but just not good business on their part.

I must have gotten your stickers. Lol.

Those craven speed antennas are known for terrible reception. I thought you already knew, or I would have said something.

Scion tC, 350Z, or S2K antennas. Mine is an modified S2K.

    Nahh...had no clue.

I saw that a couple people used them on their builds and didnt see any complaints.

Ohhh well..guess I need to get an Ipod adapter.

**Also I held off on ordering the engine internals, after talking to the supra guys, they think Supra Turbo internals should be plenty enough and about 1/5th of the price. Soo im bidding on a couple now, if I dont score any by end of the week ill pull trigger on new stuff.

I think you have your goals backwards. Making that power on a 2JZ is cake, you might want to consider focusing your attention to the little things like tire compound, traction, cage, rear end weight, etc. etc. if you want to commit this build to the strip IMO.

Lol, come on Tor you konw better then that. Think the whole project through, then build. Otherwise you end up not using and cutting shit back that doesn work, I.E. wasting money.
