Hey guys, I have my 2004 Tacoma 2.7 access cab and wanna lift it. For the rear, I wanna do a 2 Inch aal for it. Do I need extended brake lines or axel shims? When I did my 2010 I only needed axel shims and I was ok. And for the front, I wanna do billes maybe at 1.75. Are there any coils that give only 2 inches of lift up front. All of them are preset at 3inches and I don't want that. I could just set the billes at 2.5 up front too. Is it over 2.5 you need ucas on the First gens. Idk if it is the same on like on my 2010 Tacoma or not. Thanks guys so much.

881's will give about two inches.

So ome 881 coils, billes at zero and that should give me 2 Inches up right right:). Going that high should mess anything up right.

I had shot Toytec an email and they never replied.

That is from Wheelers website. Give Johny at Wheelers a call. Nice guy and very helpful. I decided to go with the Billies and the 881's.

That's what I have on the front.
The 5100's are designed to be paired with the stock coils but can be used with the OME 880 or 881 coils IF the shocks are left at the zero/lowest height setting. Going any higher could potentially damage the shocks because the coils are too stiff and could cause the shocks to overextend.
I have had no issues related to the suspension upgrade...the general rule is if you stay below 3" you're safe.
If I had to do it over again I would most likely skip the 5100's and go with nitrochargers. Just a matter of preference and to me the 5100's give the truck too stiff of a ride.

    Or YotaDan @ Wheeler's

I called and spoke with Toytec yesterday for an extended period of time.

    They are extremely helpful.

The 881s will give 2" of lift and about 1.75-2" after they settle.

Julie. And she would have gotten Dylan on the phone but I decided I'll just drive down there before I purchase so he can give a once over of my truck in person.

I'd have rather ordered from Toytec than had to deal with Undelivered, Pilfered or Smashed (UPS) :(

I'm lucky. I'm local to Toytec so I save on shipping and can see them in person.

Although I am in the process of pricing everything out... Wheelers Off Road might come in a little cheaper after all said and done for the same components. We'll see.

That's what I emailed them about; price matching, or at least getting a little closer.

im not sure if we are talking exact components but i ordered the OME kit from 4wheelparts because there is a local store near me. i did not have to pay shipping and total kit with OME 881's was $930. I do plan on renting a coil compressor and putting it on myself.

Does that include new Dakar rear springs?

And what all came with the kit?

So this is what today's research netted me. I am looking to upgrade my entire suspension.

If I order a complete OME kit from Toytec:
    $1200 + $108 tax, no shipping. Total after 5% discount: $1243

(881s, Dakar rear springs, Nitro sports all around, 5mm trim kit, diff drop, all bushings and longer U-bolts)

If I order complete OME kit from Wheelers Off Road:
    $1160 + $140 shipping, no tax. Total: $1300

(881s, Dakar rear springs, Nitro sports all around, 5mm front trim, greasable shackles, Wheelers bushings, exhaust hanger, extended brake lines, U-bolts)

I feel as though I don't need greasable shackles, exhaust hanger, or extended brake lines. Plus I was informed that the Dakar rear springs will give me rake with the 881s with no top plate spacer. If I were to use a top plate spacer then it would sit level but then I would have about 2.5" of lift which is more than I want. Plus the cost of longer studs needs to be factored in.

So I priced out just components I would need from Wheelers Off Road:
$1135 + $140 shipping. Total: $1275 (probably cheaper because the Wheeler 5 packs are lighter than the Dakars)

(881s, Wheelers 5-pack rear springs - comes with bushings, Nitro sports all around, 5mm front trim kit, shackle to frame bushings, BPV bracket)

With this set up my truck would sit level and have about 1.75-2" lift which is what I want.

3 options... probably leaning towards option 3 as it is only $30 more (or less) and gives me what I want without rake, too much lift or extra parts I don't need.

Id go with number 3 probably as i have seen it on Lisa truck and she sits quite level when she has her gear in it.

But are you really against a bit a rake?? i think the Dakars would settle a bit. and when your loaded for camping/wheeling it'll probably be level then. I like mine to sit level or a tad of rake when fully loaded which yes does merit a bit more rake when its not. But id rather that personally then bro lean when im up in the hills.

I honestly think you can't go wrong with either leaf pack. But after seeing how the 5 packs themselves take weight, i think id opt for the Dakars in your case purely due to the fact that you have a topper.

But really, go with what you think will be better. They are both good leaf packs and will serve you well.

and im not sure you'd need the trim pack at all with the 5 packs. Unless your REALLy worried and super anti rake then get it just in case.

    Hope this helps..haha

"But really, go with what you think will be better."

That's the problem, I have no idea.

And I have no idea how much rake I would have with the Dakars (unloaded bed with the topper on). If we're talking very little I guess I could live with it. But if we're talking Ol' Red would look like he's face down ass up (HEY YO!) then I'd be really disappointed.

Remember, for the most part... like 97.25% of the time I'm driving on road with an unloaded bed.

And I was told I need that 5mm trim kit to put just one shim on the driver's side to get rid of the Taco Lean. It's $8.

I wish a sign from the Taco gods would shine down upon me :(

Then get the wheelers. You answered your own question :D

Since you don't load up a ton, the 5 packs will suit you just fine I'd think

But when I am all loaded up on the trail with the topper on I don't want to feel compromised.

Or when I do get landscaping materials and load the bed up with mulch/rock, or the lumber yard, etc...
