I tell him to buy another reliable city car, like a civic or a subie.

he wants a BMW, because there's "lots" of "cheap" BMW's here. high mileage shit.

 

I tell him BMW's are expensive as fuck to maintain here, we've had BMW's since my dad's 7 series V10 back in the day to our X3

I said that about my Bimmer... that was before my 300 dollar water pump that took 12 hours to install.

Doesn't matter how good of care you take to your vehicles, shit breaks or wears out. It's the byproduct of using the vehicle.

He evidently doesn't understand why people still fix and drive 25 year old chevy trucks with a carb'ed engine and everything manual. It's because they may need a lot of repairs but the parts are cheap and very easy to replace. It doesn't take 10 hours to change an alternator.
