You are an atheist, correct? The reason I ask is that if the answer is yes, you can dispense with faith bashing as we will all know your position on it without you having to constantly repeat it.

There's only one flaw with the theory that same sex couples "don't count" because they can't procreate naturally, thus by not having children naturally they're not the same as heterosexual couples: The theory assumes that all hetero couples automatically have children.

Well... my wife and I do not plan, not want to ever have children. Yet we're a Hetero couple thus are we not considered a legitimate couple? You see my point?

Inner space aliens............this subject was, is & always will be at an impass. No matter what arguments from what side, no matter how logical or illogical, it will remain at an impass. How bout being satisified that in our society there is a certain amount of tolerance & acceptance for it. If it was or when it becomes a Muslim society then that sort of thing will be punishable by death as it is now & has been. Try convincing muslims it's equal & matters not, people are just people & see how far you get. Rewrite the bible & koran already. Address how gay/lesbian can ever be religous while it flies in the face of what is & has been taught for centuries from scriptures.

Your decision to not have children is by choice. The gays - or gay supporters - have consistently argued on this thread that gays can't help being what they are because they are born that way. Hence, they can't produce children even if they wanted to. If a gay person says he doesn't want to produce a baby because it's his/her choice, then he's affirming the argument that gays are gays by choice, not birth. They can't have it both ways - although they sure try! You see my point? Gays try to get around this point by arguing that they can "raise" children every bit it as well as heterosexuals can. And that is possible, and arguable, but they can't make kids.

They could make kids if they worked together with the lesbians. This is how................

Gay couples cannot produce offspring on their own. Lesbian couples cannot produce offspring on their own. MARRIAGE means living monogamously by definition. Does no one care to acknowledge the impending doom of the human race when this takes over & everyone is converted & no one can have kids anymore because of their newly acknowledged lawful bond? But wait, they can work together to save humankind.:D The gays can extract their extractings & mix them with the lesbians eggs & then the kids will flow & the earth will be replenished once more. They will share the duties of child rearing & have lasting relationships as hetero couples do because of it. Then they'll just move in together for logistical reasons for the good of the kids & before you know it life will have made full circle once again. ;)

My point was that having Children , whether you can or not doesn't in my opinion make you "better" than someone else. There are straight couples who can't have children either, whether it be from medical reasons or an accident or whatnot. Thus I'm not really buying that assertion.

You know what's ironic about all this? When I went to church as a kid, I didn't fit in with the rest of the kids in my Sunday school class. you want to know why? It was because ALL of those kids came from parents who had divorced. I think there was seriously maybe 1 or 2 other kids who's parents were still together. It was almost unheard of in our church that the couples there were still on marriage No.1. So its ironic that we're talking about the religious sanctity of marriage when in fact the bulk of the Christian couples I grew up with were divorced.
Oh well. This is truly a Chicken and Egg argument. Taco Prerunner nailed it. To each his own. At least we CAN argue about it.

BINGO!! I mentioned this exact point earlier.

How can anyone preach about what marriage is supposed to be? The divorce rate is about 50%. That's Pathetic!!!

And those words you 'swear by' in marriage ceremonies? Till death do us part?

Let the gays get married - they might have a better understanding of how to stay TOGETHER better than those other 50%.

In my oppinion, getting married and staying married is more important than WHO is getting married.

Bobby, no one - not me, no one - on this thread has EVER said being able to produce children makes anyone "better than someone else"!!! My assertion was that it makes you DIFFERENT, not better!!!!!!!! For CRIKEY'S SAKE stop making inferences based on false facts and assumptions!

Sorry to hear of your childhood at the church. Christians are sinners like everyone else. That's why we study Him and go to church, to try to be better. Many on this site seem to think that a Christian that sins is a hypocrite and thus the entire religion is hypocrisy. We are ALL sinners....Christianity helps you come to grips with it, provides a support structure to help you deal with it, and doesn't condemn you for it. It's a lifelong pursuit, not a month long fad.
