The Copper Anti-seize is for higher temp applications. Also, the Silver Anti-seize is not recommended for high speed moving parts. Since the motor is always in motion the Copper version seems like a better option.

I used regular anti seize, and greased everything and the noise went away.... For about 2 weeks.

Now its louder than ever, I'm gonna give the copper anti seize a try.

I have had the fan motor out of my 2010 three times, still chips. Using a hair dryer to warm the top of the plastic fan will make prying it off much easier and less likely to break it.

So my fan motor is chirping like a cricket on Barry Bonds steriods, but still under warranty. Called the dealership, service manager tells me to bring it in and they will replace the motor. I asked him twice and he assured me that they always have the motors on hand ready to install. Get to dealership and Im informed that he made a mistake and doesnt have a motor, will have to order. What the hell??? Got to take time out again to go back and have the motor installed, gave the so called service manager a piece of my mind, what very little mind I have left. If he was my employee, he would be a former employee.

My blower had been chirping for awhile. I assumed a leaf was in there somewhere. But now today I noticed the blower doesn't seem to be working at all.

Just another thing falling apart on my 55,000 mile 2008.

    Not happy.

I just wanted to followup that I did end up calling the Toyota 800 number and explained my concern, they called the service manager then called me back and asked me to take the truck back in for a second look. I did that yesterday and the blower was chirping away. It was replaced under warrenty again.

Moral of the story, don't let the service manager give you a pile of crap about a nonexistent policy. Apparently they WILL replace it more than once.

The last blower was a -43 so I am not really holding out much hope for this one but it is quiet now.

Love this truck, hard to believe they have been having this problem for so long.

The fan on my truck was replaced twice. It makes the same noise again. What a shitty design and quality.
So I gave up on replacing it and decided to fix it myself. Here is what I did so far:
    - Drilled a small hole on top of the fan blade. This gives me access to the top bearing without removing the fan blades and possibly breaking it. Lubed the top bearing with penetrating lubricant. This procedure made no difference. Noise can be heard when turning the fan by hand.
-Removed the bottom cover and applied small amount of penetrating oil to the bottom bearing. No difference, still making noise. Note: Penetrating oil is not the best lubricant but it helps isolate the problem.
The noise clearly comes from the commutator/ brush assembly.
-Removed the bottom metal cover held by two screws (careful not to break the brushes, don't force it).
Commutator and brushes assembly can be accessed without removing the fan blades.
Thoroughly polished the commutator with emery cloth. Also used a small piece of emery cloth to slightly clean the brushes (the sides that slide on the commutator. Chamfered the edges slightly with the same emery cloth.
    - Reassembled the motor. Brushes assembly should be removed from the bottom metal cover first. Note which side is up. Then carefully push the brushes in and slide the assembly over the bottom bearing shaft seal and into it's place over the commutator. Make sure not it's not upside-down. Apply small amount of light bearing grease to the bottom bearing (Don't use molly grease). Install the bottom metal cover and tighten two small bolts that hold it in place. Make sure the bolts are tight and the cover is properly centered.
-Reinstall bottom plastic cover. Install the blower motor back into your truck.

So far it's been quiet. Do this at your own risk. No need to drill a small hole in the fan blades. I did this for troubleshooting purposes.

You hit the nail right on the head!

The design engineers at Toyota were probably forced into cost savings measures and used a plain carbon brush instead of one imbedded with a molybdenum lubricant. If it comes back please try the Copper anti-seize and see if it improves.

My reviewer nickname on Amazon is Hoosier99.

I always look for trends when I read reviews on things and "smells like it's burning" is a trend for the TYC.

Sorry if I came across rough. I'm wound a bit tight lately.

Mainly I want to get the message out that the TYC blower is a piece of crap.

In the past couple pages we've had owners of the 043 motor report chirping. I'm not ordering one.

May I rant for a minute? Thanks.

I've had so many stupid little problems with this truck.
-Delivered from the dealer with scratched/scuffed dashboard components, missing childseat latch covers, scratched ceiling console

-Dealer ordered wrong parts to fix, didn't order parts for months, lied to me over the phone about ordering parts, installed wrong parts, received another scratched ceiling console. Whined about it costing $700 when I told him to order a third one.

-Rivet head broke loose in dash causing a metal part sliding sound every time I turned. Neanderthals in the service dept disassembled my entire dash down to the metal to find it. When they reassembled it they F'ed up my airbag system, F'ed up my "key in ignition door chime", put my cabin air filter in upside down and sideways, made lots of nice little scratches on my dashboard from prying it apart, cut my steering wheel, stained my seat, crushed my $150 sunglasses which were in the ceiling console (why did you even take them out you assholes? you weren't working on my ceiling console this trip!), installed the center console cargo net UNDER the center console.

-The front edge of my serpentine belt peeled off on its own one day, wrapping around the fan shaft. Service monkey said: "that's a wear item, not under warranty. Where'd you buy the truck?" I bought it here brand new!!! "Oh ok, we'll replace that." They replaced it and left my battery cable loose so my truck wouldn't start at work the next week.

-While it was still under warranty I specifically asked them to look for any relevant TSB's. They told me there were no TSB's. Once I'm out of warranty I learn about leaf springs, fans, and probably some other stuff I've forgotten.

Royal Toyota South's entire service department (Bloomington, IN) can burn in hell for all I care. And no, I don't believe the salesman, or the finance guy, or anyone else who tells me that they've improved.
