280 miles until the light comes on :(

AFE intake, Aero Turbine muffler too. But I have a 2.5" lift, 265 tires, roof rack, 2 big antennas (over 8 feet tall), and I'm a pretty big guy.

The only reason one would let a truck warm up is all about the driver and nothing to do with the truck. Trucks have no feelings and don't care about any thing.

Light comes on when you have used 17 gallons (+/-), so we are on the same page. If you got to 270 miles when the light came on, then you are getting about 16 mpg.

None of us should have ever really known how many miles they got on a 'tank', as that would be they ran out of gas! Estimating based on a fill up (gallons to fill divided by miles driven) is good enough.

I think to some, a 'tank' is either when the light comes on, or the needle is on E?
    Light = 17 gallons burned.
    E Line = 18 gallons burned.
Run out = 21.1 gallons used!!!

How are you guys getting such good mileage to a tank of fuel?!

In my Taco I get 230mi to a tank on the highway and from 250-280mi when driving through town and on 2 laners.

    I got 4x4, Automatic, 4.0

I track my economy on Fuelly, but only just started. So I can't prove my highway economy because I haven't taken any highway trips since I started tracking.

So here's my city MPG average for my last few tanks. Since I burn 18 gallons to the E needle, at my 21.1 MPG that works out to a 380 mile tank.

In the summer, on a nice long highway trip, the truck will pull 26 mpg. So that gives me a 480 mile tank. This summer, or next time I take a long road trip, I will post the results here if you'd like.

380 miles to the E Line, not the tank, right? A tank is 21.1 gallons... and if you get 21.1 mpg, then that would make a tank 445 miles.... yes?

Again, what are you calling a "tank"??? The gallons figure is what matters, or say to the "Light" (17 gallons) or to the "E-Line" (18 gallons). The tank holds 21.1 gallons (80 liters).

I also find it interesting you get better mileage in the city??? Unless your city driving has no stop lights or stop signs, or stop and go traffic.

Not sure what you're asking, but it's approx 380 miles on 18 gallons, which puts my needle about at the E line. To "kill" my tank and use all 21 gallons the needle would have to go past the E line, but I've never done that since it doesn't leave me enough margin of error to avoid running out of gas.

Going to go ahead and beat myself to it here. I had some time this afternoon so I figured what the heck and took a small highway trip. Here are the results.

I wasn't sure if the truck would still get 26 mpg considering we're now using winter blend gas here in Ohio, but it looks like it does. So that's interesting. Generally I've become accustomed to a slight mpg drop when the gas switches over to winter blend in October.

I get about the same highway or city. My truck definitely isn't like a car where it's night and day between city and highway mileage.

Yes, the needle indeed goes below the E Line... ~3 gallons from the E Line to really empty... 45-60 more or less miles depending on your mileage, right!
