What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Thanks, I have a 3" wire wheel on my small craftsman 12v drill. I just work a little at a time. I spend about 2 beers a night working on them. Need to split it apart and start on the inside. Also plan on using the dremel to get into the small areas. Don't know if I want to spend the money on powder coating them or not.

 

I was going to ask if you are going to use caliber paint on them.

Pretty cheap alternative to powder coating and much easier to touch up if need be.

I would get some caliper paint and brush it on. 1 small can will do calipers and drums with some left over.

 

Caliber paint is the current plan. Although I am going to get a quote for powder coating them. If I wanted to do them the easy way I could have paid to get them media blasted, painted, and have them installed right now. But I taking my time and working on them slowly.

 

I need to do my drums too.... thanks for reminding me.

 

Then what better way to compliment the process than painting them yourself?

 

What does the painting process equate to in beers?

 

2-5 beers. 1 for prep and the other for 1 coat on both calipers. I would do 2-3 coats.

 

I love my locker, Its so helpful.

 

Just imagine how helpful two lockers are.

Oh that would be very nice indeed. But id feel like I would be wasting my money on a locker with my ifs... Becuase I have long term plans for my truck, and I will sas it someday. Hopefully

Did you paint your wheel wells black? I can't remember if I saw that in your build or not.

 

Idk if yours has the same bulbs as mine but I have a 2000 and just got done doing this, I went with white though since my headunit lights up white and blue. The bulb size for the climate control is a t5. I picked them up for $1.50 a piece and you need 2 for the a/c, 1 for the illumination ring around the ignition (if you have one), and 1 for the glove box if you want to do that too. I'm ready for the dark so I can see mine!
