Best manual transmission fluid?

    I have heard that I might want to go to a heavier transmission fluid because of high miles (220k)(finally broken in lol). Brand? Weight? Should I do it more often now? Everything feels just as solid as ever but I want to keep things protected. Also I'm pretty hard on the clutch(like to race around) and wondering if I should go to a HD clutch when mine finally gives way after the life of the vehicle (maybe in a year it will go). brands?

    Redline MT-90 is the best.

    Also keep the racing on a track... and not in a slow truck...

    edit: Amsoil anything is right up there with the redline oil.

    amsoil severe gear 75W-90 (or whatever weight toyota recommends).

    you don't need (or want) heavier fluid than recommended.

    I will tell you that if you put crappy gear oil in it you'll regret it. The transmission will be hard to get in gear when cold, etc.

    You definitely do not want a heavier weight oil in there.
    It will shift horribly (if at all) at low temps.

    Always stick with what's called out in the manual.

    Did it today! Used amsoil! only took me 8 hours!

    Just make sure you use GL4 oil in the tranny like redline mt90.

    GL5 will eat away at the brass synchro's in the tranny.

    IIRC, amsoil severe gear is GL5.
