    Nah. It's all just nuts and bolts dude. Your taking way to much for granted. Unless they are forging tier own pistons, cranks, blocks, heads...it's not custom. You can build it yourself.

    If you have the parts..you can learn to DIY and it'll still be just fine.

    Besides at like 600+ I don't care who built it. Something is going to break eventually. Just how it works. You gotta constantly be rebuilding. Higher power means smaller room for error and higher tolerances that wear out faster.

    Big power breaks shit. But that's part of the fun :)

    They didnt make the 2.7 for those 4runners. Only 3.0L, 22r, and 22re. Your probly talking about the 3vz-e (3.slow)

    22re is the best choice for for those 4runners. 3.0L would be good too because you can 3.4 swap it and use the same wiring harness. If you get lucky, you can find an 85 4runner with the 22re. Thats probly the rarest runner. Like the one i posted up here a couple weeks ago

    Lol dude..I said 3vz..not 3rz..haha they are actually the same block as our 5vzfes. Ours are just bored out

    Yes the 22re is best. I don't like the carberation from 22rs. Plus 22res are easy to put a small turbo on.

    I'd just swap a 22re in over a 5vz I think. 22res are just freaking unstoppable.

    I would for a dedicated crawler. Put a turbo on it. Some basic tuning. Get 200hp outa it. Low gears and nice torque. Would be fun.

    I guess we should clarify. If i bought one with the 22re, id leave it in. But if i found a nice one with the 3.0, i would think about 3.4 swapping.

    But a turbo'd 22re would be fun!

    But I think if I had the choice I'd just go 22re. Think I could find one cheaper

    Its funny, everybody hates on the 3.0 but its not as bad as everybody thinks. Sure it sucks up fuel and is pretty gutless, but it will go forever if you keep it maintained. Just change the HG with the better gasket and upgrade certain parts and it will go for as long as any other toyota engine.
