I'm going to be mounting my APEX sliders & IFS Skid this weekend after finally getting them powdercoated so I'll post some before & after pics once I get done.. I guess I should eventually start my own build page...

 

Sweet! You will have to show that shit off when it goes on. Then, we wheel. We need to get the NoCo folk together and start wheelin together more regularly. Make sure you visit the CO BS thread and the upcoming events often to make sure you go out with us when we do.

 

Will Do Travis! I was able to get everything mounted yesterday aside from the Last F'in Bolt since my drill crapped out on me.. I'm gonna try and finish this afternoon and then I'll post some pics...
I'm definitely down for a meet & greet with the other NoCo folks and some light wheelin'... (I'm still on my stock wheels/tires/suspension, so i'd probably have to stick to lighter stuff until then...) I'm sure you could recommend something since you've been there yourself & are familiar with the area..
I'll check the BS thread out to keep up..
also, i picked up my Hi-lift yesterday from Jax! (I had to get some jack stands anyways to mount the sliders..) I also got the off-road base, however I held off on any mounting hardware yet since I'm not sure what will work with my hard tonneau cover I have (G4 Elite)... I wanted to pick your brain and search around TW for possible mounting info first, since my tonneau hooks into the factory bed rail system...

Awesome work getting the sliders and installing them. I should have started there but for some reason they keep getting pushed back. My bro finally has his welding area figured out so we should be able to start making my sliders soon. They WILL BE on before moab though. I also am hesitant about using my bed rails to mount the hi lift. They sell a tube mount for use on tube bumpers, etc. but I don't know if my tube front is wide enough to mount it. I'm not even sure I want to have it up there anyway. I may wait and find a place to mount it on whatever rear bumper I go with...not sure.
As far as wheeling goes, we will be able to get out somewhere for sure. I may try to scope out sevenmile as it is one of the only trails that is open year round up north. However, Red Feather may have places we can go to explore and are pretty mild.

Also, saw that you were sick...Sorry to hear it. I just got over the Worst sinus infection of my life...seriously lasted like 2 weeks and I was just miserable between my nose/ears/headaches..But MUCH Better now and back to being able to taste my beer!! YAY!

You'd be amazed at what a stock truck will do.

 

X2 My truck did Bill Moore no sweat when it was stock. If you are patient, confident and have a decent spotter, these trucks have the capability to scare the shit out of you in a good way. The tires are the only thing you have to be kinda concerned about if going over sharp rocks cuz street tires won't have great puncture resistance on the sidewalls, but even then up north here we don't have the sharp volcanic rocks that you get in southern CO and other places. We will find all sorts of places to go. What kind of schedule do you have anyway, Marcelo?

Oh and Monte, are you planning on making the Lander trip on the same trails this year, or are you mixing it up?

 

Was just planning the same trails as it seemed everyone wanted to do those. tho there are tons of little roads by Christina to explore which i think we will as christina is a nice short trail...depending on condition and how many people show though it might take a while.

^^^ I work Tues-Fri (~9-5) & Sat (~9-3or4). Then I'm with my daughter Monday mornings until noonish while my wife works for the next few months..although, I can always try and find a sitter for that time if need be..

As much as I would love to not have it take up space in my garage I am keeping it in case I ever go back to stock. Sorry man. I will keep you in mind if anything changes.

 

ATO skids were delivered yesterday! Holy shit these things are beefy! The front HD skid seriously seems like tank armor, and the trans and t case skids arent much thinner. Have to go to an exhaust shop in the next few days to see about getting the reroute done, then shoot the skids with some black paint/primer to keep the rust off. Might try to mask off the front of the truck to hit the small amounts of grey pain that are showing through from behind my front bumper, since I will have the paint out.

 

Awesome man! What made you go with ATO versus all the others? Let me know which shop does your exhaust.

 

You get them from 4x innovations? It's a shame Kevin closed up shop, I picked mine up from him. I was wondering if they were going to change them at all.

When I bought skids it was ATO or bud built. ATO has 1/4" thick ifs skid, so that's why I went with it. Plus I was able to avoid shipping.

 

Yeah 4X Innovations. I think he is changing only a few very minor things. He still sells them under the name ATO. and yeah I picked them because they have the beefiest front skid I have seen. This thing is mutant. Plus they had a Christmas sale where I got the three for $680 shipped. Pretty good deal.
I am going to use Collins muffler in Loveland. When I pulled up there was a taco that just got done with the same thing I want: reroute above frame cross member, moving the can forward and cutting off the tip to right after that upward bend that allows the axle travel. They said they will do it for $225. Not too bad IMO.

 

Good deal on the skids.. I paid $900 picked up lol. But I got the gas tank skid too.

Exhaust reroute is good price too.. I have a Doug thorley y pipe that took like 4 months to get and it was more $

 

That is a great price for those skids and the exhaust work! I was definitely going to do a Bud Built gas skid but wasn't sure about the rest. I didn't realize ATO's front was so beefy. I'll probably go the same direction provided their will not be a problem with the ATO front and an ARB bumper. Will the ATO front clear your BAMF LCA skids? I intend on getting those LCA skids too.

 

Relentless makes some beef skids too. Full 1/4" if ya want

 

I hope they will clear. Looking at pics I don't think there will be problem. I asked Kevin (previous owner of ATO) and he said he thought they would go together fine. I do have to get rid of the diff drop I put in. Was nice knowing that my CV angles were closer to stock, but the protection up front from the skid gives even more peace of mind. And after getting rid of the brackets that held the OEM plate, I think I will gain a little bit of clearance.

Yeah this ATO front is 1/4", I think the other two are 3/16", but the design looks strong. Should have the reroute done by Wed night, so I will try to put them on Thurs or Fri and post pics before going back to the cabin!

 

I had no idea it wouldn't be compatible with a diff drop. I have a diff drop too and think I would rather risk taking a hit to the stock skid then take out the diff drop. Right now I have ZERO vibrations and would like to not mess with a good thing if you know what I mean. Plus, I worry about those CV axles as it is with the way the fins are. Crap.
