Issue with them is this-> most of the people are comming from SPD's to these. SPD's have 0º play in them. The CB platform has like 10º of play in them. So people think they are too loose.

They are a simplistic design. minimal moving parts and components. vs the SPD - lots of places for dirt and grime to get into and fowl them.

Go to your local shop and see if they will let you test ride a couple bikes with the different style pedals.

If by the odd chance the springs fail, call CB and they will accomodate you.

My Shimanos have built in float although it is not adjustable like my Speedplays on my road bike but it doesn't seem to matter as much on my mountain bike. I can get out of my Shimano pedals easier than my Speedplays.

    Yes, I sold my '13 Taco. :'(
The clamp on guides tend to shift more over time than a bb/ISCG/ISCG 05 mounted guide. My friend ran a Paul's(?) brand clamp guide on his Blur TRC and hated it bc it would not stay in place.

If you're set on a 1x10 and can't run a bb mount guide, I would run at most a mid cage clutch RD (Shimano w/Shadow+ or SRAM "type 2") and the smallest cassette your fitness will permit to keep the chain short & taught.

Can you run a clamp guide on the chainstay? That def helps against dropping your chain.

damn well i might skip that mount then. I think ive heard good things about the e13 xcx guide though. ill have to look more into it.

i do want to get a shadow+ rd and i will probably end up going with the bionicon chainstay mounted guide

Change your cleats. To anyone having issues. Yes, the brass wears out quicker than the steel but still having 4 clip points is awesome!

Your telling me! Insurance companys nightmare. I remember an agent coming to our shop to look at some of the +$10k Road bikes. When approached, he clearly was shook. After prying a bit, he disclosed there was an accident where a support van (triathlon) was involved in an accident. On the roof rack there were 15 bicycles and many sets of ZIPP wheels. Inside the vehicle there were more bicycles and wheels, as well as on the rear of the vehicle on a rack! After giving me the makes and models of each, wheels included. The total came out to well over $500,000.00. I never saw an insurance guy squirm so much in my life.

I had let the team use our tru-ing machine a week prior and felt sorry for them since I knew the bikes and people involved.

    Van had 7k of damage...

Hahaha that is epic! I don't mind making the insurance people squirm though, they get away with murder on some of these claims. I would love to see the support van, probably had tons of goodies inside :D

Can't go wrong with anything E13 makes! I'm partial to MRP for guides.

Speaking of which, I switched out the guide on my Nomad yesterday before my ride. Went from an MRP LRP to an MRP 2x. Both dual ring shiftable guides.

My reason for switching was more a clearance issue. The mounting plate for the MRP LRP was contacting the rear triangle. SC VPP rear triangles make running a roller/bash guide setups difficult to clearance.

As you can see in the comparison picture I made, MUCH more clearance between the front of the chainstay and the chain/guide on the 2x. So far so good with the 2x MRP guide. Shifts really nicely and very simple, clean.

    (MRP LRP ---> MRP 2x)

    MRP 2x clearances, perfect!
