Ride after Spring TSB?

I recieved the spring TSB yesterday. I have noticed that it rides stiffer and has lifted the truck.It also seems that it made my 20mph vibrations worse. Is this common? I am curious if the springs will ever ride softer like the old one's but be able to handle more payload? I like knowing that the truck will handle a load now, but the ride is a little stiffer than I prefer. What can I do to soften the ride but keep the increased hauling ability?

 

You're asking for two different results. you either want to haul stuff, Or a softer ride. I do not believe both can happen.
The ride will soften a little bit over the next couple months.

 

This seems to be a difficult thing for Toyota to do. I have owned Ford's and Chevrolet's and both can ride good and haul 4 people and not bottom out. I'm not trying to bash Toyota but they should be able to produce a spring that can handle a decent load and have a comfortable ride.I haven't driven it with much of a load or a full cabin yet. Maybe that will help.

 

I was very worried about having a rough ride with the spring TSB.I want a nice ride truck or not.
After getting the TSB done,to me the difference is barely noticeable.
I added 5100s all around and the truck rides and handles very nice.
Maybe it's the extra 14.5" wheelbase of the double cab.

 

I love my ride after the TSB was done. The truck now has a slightly stiffer ride, which I wanted because before it was so soft it would bounce like hell over speed bumps, and the bed sits about 1" higher. The blue TRD shocks also look great.

If you didn't want your truck to have a stiffer ride you prob should not have got the TSB done. All the full size trucks that I ride in have a stiff suspension to compensate for heavy loads, its just how a truck is supposed to drive in my opinion.

Hell, if you think the TSB springs are stiff, you should've driven in my 96 tacoma with my re-arched springs & 2AAL's. That rear suspension was some heavy duty shit!! I loved it!! Felt rugged as hell!!

 

I hardly noticed a difference on mine either. But then again I have the 5100's and Toytec's TSB AAL in the back as well. Feels slightly stiffer than before, but not that much. No vibrations either.

 

I'm not sure if I have the 3 or 4 leafs on my 2009 DC TRD Off-road. I'll check tomorrow. But my truck already rides pretty stiff. I haven't loaded it or towed with it yet though, and only 7k miles. if it's go 3 leafs, I'm going to be hesitant to do the TSB b/c it sits level and I like the ride.

 

Should have just installed some airbag helper springs. Retains the softer ride, but a little more PSI in the bags and you have your carrying capacity without the sagging.

It's comments/expereiences just like this that have swayed me to the airbag set up instead. I want my cake AND eat it too.

 

It's a lightweight truck...not going to happen. You are comparing a full sized (heavy) truck to a small truck. Not even in the same arena.

It is just a bit stiffer, and the ride feels better... Not as rugged feeling as my 97, but closer!

 

My ride doesn't feel stiffer; however I definitely notice the 1-2 in lift in the back. Now when I'm driving I lookout the front windshield at a slightly downward angle due to the the back end being higher. To me there's no noticeable firmness to the ride at all.

 

^I was in Maple Shade last week at my sisters house. It's still in NJ so therefore it still sucks.

I'll be getting the TSB done soon. If you haven't seen my thread about my trip to NJ last week, I bottomed out so many times during that 9 day trip that I lost count. The most weight I even had in the bed was approx. 300lbs and sometimes, like when we went to the Philly zoo, it bottomed out with no weight in the back. To me, it's completely unsafe on rough roadways so it has to be done. I'll level shortly after.

 

Mine doesnt feel any stiffer at all. No vibrations either. I did notice the 1 1/2 to 2 inch lift and it seams to handle better. I liked it before the TSB but I like it more now.

 

The vibrations seem to have gone away and the noise from the swap seems to have went also. I have put some weight in the back to help it settle quicker. Other than that I am enjoying the swap.Thanks to all for the info provided in this forum.

 

Tsb done on my 2009 dc tacoma never bottomed out with the 3 leafs but had it done anyway,it's a free upgrade why not do it.ride was a bit stiff but it's a truck i don't mind.

I've had mine done for awhile now and it stills sits high in the rear and rides 'stiffer'. It will never be plush like it was before the tsb unless you remove a leaf. Do you haul a load often? Did you have a problem or did you get it done because you saw it on this site? You will get use to it with time. What tires are you running and psi? ​
