Got to drive it after not driving it since last Wednesday.

Since I haven't found a pciture thread about KOH and we did take a 1st gen with us, I'll picture whore why I didn't drive my yota since Wednesday here.

Left Corvallis Wednesday evening. Took a friend's yota and my bike this year and a total of 3 guys in the truck.

We stopped somewhere around Sacramento to pick up our friend's quad from his parent's house and got to Hammertown sometime on Thursday evening. We met up with another friend that had gone down Tuesday with his dad and saved us a spot.

So I'm very much in love with Local Motor's Rally Fighter. Up until this trip I had only scene one car in person at last year's KOH. We were mobbing around Jackhammer when we saw one decked out in pure Dukes of Hazzard glory mobbing in the desert below us. Hopped on my dirtbike in a hurry and chased it back into Hammertown. Finally caught up with it and it turns out it was a company owned RF that was here to raise awareness for Local Motors. The best part, they were letting people ride shotgun while they railed it through the desert! That car handles the desert like a dream, just absolutely incredible. Honestly worth every bit of the $100k price tag.

I have some GoPro action I'll have to upload. Pretty shaky, but its from inside the car.

    Nightime fun at Backdoor.

As far as spectating went, we change it up this year. We made a conscious decision to avoid Backdoor and Chocolate Thunder, typically hotspots for intense rockcrawling action and traffic jams. Backdoor was fenced off, so you could not even get in the valley. Chocolate Thunder was just waaaay to crowded and we wanted to see different parts of the course anyway.

Started out spectating at RM7. A nice go-fast section of desert.

We then moved over to another dry lake bed on the opposite side of the mountain Hammertown sits under.

After watching some serious speed we decided to move to Jackhammer for some rock action. We hit at a really low traffic time and only saw a few cars. Also, it was downhill so there was no real excitement.

We moved onto Clawhammer after we got bored at Jackhammer. It was definitely some good racing there. Nothing like Backdoor or Chocolate Thunder technically or traffic jam wise, but still fun to watch.

There was a fairly lengthy lull in action after a bit. My buddy and I got bored and decided to hike to the top of the mountain on one right side of the trail. It was a HIKE. Very steep slope, crawling on all fours many times. However, it was definitely worth the view. Very, very, very windy and we watched a little dust storm get stirred up in Hammertown and the surrounding desert and come our way. Of course the action on Clawhammer picked while we where up there. Didn't get to see the close up action, but we could see cars the entire length of the valley going up to Wrecking Ball, racers coming out of Chocolate Thunder and into Clawhammer, coming out of Jackhammer, going into Backdoor and dust from numerous desert sections. Really cool to get a big picture view of the race.

On our way back home we stopped in Fontana, California at the Auto Club Speedway. One of my friends we went with wanted to go to the tryouts for Octane Academy that were being held there. We were directed to one parking lot of the many, many acres that surrounded the track. We pulled into the ultimate bro drifter wannabe race scene ever. I don't think I've ever stuck out that much before. Repped our ratty yota pickup loaded with camping gear and dirtbike and quad and our romeos and cowboy boots.
    382208_10200306347528553_1028630872_n_cb73d263ae39d6e0e5735712b026ec8320c68e91.jpg
After waiting around for awhile and awkwardly walking around checking everyone's lovely pavement pounder rides out, a blue mustang came rolling out across the parking lot on the other side of the road. He drove into the middle of this gaggle and hollered, "what are you guys waiting for?!" and took off back to where he came from. A scene from The Fast and the Furious literally came to life as everyone sprinted for their rides to catch and follow this mystery character. Got to where he was going and the cars and tents for auditioning where set up. Not going to lie, watching everyone stand in line doing paperwork was boring as it could be. My other friend and I could hear some incredible engine noise coming from the Auto Club speedway just a few hundred yards away. We bailed and headed that way and found a way into the completely empty grand stands. I had never scene a Nascar track in person. Oh my goodness. Still an incredibly stupid type of racing, but a seriously impressive track simply due to scale. It was just HUGE!

Left the lakebed around 7am Saturday and got back to Corvallis around 7am Sunday.

wow, those are nice and archy...mine flattened out after about a month. But still ride 100% better than stock. Just ordered a wheelers 1.5'' AAL to give them more smile and stiffen up the ride.
