mountain trail ride. its all part of skyline management area. this is champion springs though. deer season is over that means its time to ride. they had a huge 4wheeler ride yesterday and today if the weather wasnt bad. could be a few bad spots but nothing our toyotas cant handle though a jeep might get stuck....:D there are several different trails most come out to the same place if you take the right trails lol. yes you can get lost. no cell phone service unless you have a satellite phone. might get service once on top of the mountain. i will go up there on one of my off days this week with the gopro and see what i can find anyone up for a little ride this weekend to check the riding area out? my tires are suppose to be in friday morning. I am paying about $70 more for 295/75 than i did for 315/70 2 years ago. prices just keep going up and so do unemployment rates lol.

When I had my 2007, i was running tinted tails. I was pulled over and told to get regular tail lights back on there, or the next time I was pulled over would be a fine.

I eventually purchased the ones below, love the look and the cops were cool with the new ones.

alright guys. I am torn between a decision. I am getting a good chunk of money back from taxes this year. With that and the money I get from kerri's car, I can pay cash for a used runner or I can put a good chunk of that down, pay off my car and possibly have some money for lift, tires, and/or ARB air locker.
Now my decision is, should I pay cash for a modded runner or buy one that is bone stock and do it myself? I am wanting an 04+ runner v6 4x4. I will toss around the idea of a Tacoma with the wife and see what she says. I do believe I can find a tacoma and still have the same scenario. The only down fall about the Taco is, it would have to be a 2nd gen. The 1st gen DC's are too small in the cab area.

first..... how many times have you ever used an arb air locker? how many times have you actually gotten into a situation where the only thing that would clear up the situation would be an air locker? im just saying it seems you have always been dead set on getting an air locker and im wondering why it is a "must" and a top 3 mod list item?

reason i ask is because i have been running nothing but opens and i can only think of one time where i was like.... hmmm you know a lsd would help this situation. but then i just picked a different line and went through with my opens anyway. a locker will not magically make a rock garden a paved road. and it can lead to a lot more "oh crap" moments if you dont properly maintain and know how to drive when locked.

anyways back on topic, ultimately it comes down to you. what you want to do. and i believe in order to keep a happy home you better let kerri weigh in with her opinion as well. but it all comes down to do you want to wrench and put the stuff on or do you want to wrench and fix what you and the trail break?

but in a round about point back to my original topic, i think you need to actually go out and wheel on a regular basis before justifying lockers and some of the items on your wish list. im all for armor and lift before you hit the woods but some of the stuff you can wait on and dont have to have it before your vehicle sees dirt.

but that is just my uneducated .02 and you may see me as totally wrong??? who knows?

I see your point about the locker. I just threw that out there. My top three mods would be lift, tires, and armor (sliders, bumpers, skids.) I don't mind wrenching everything together myself, but, it will save time and hassle if its already on the truck. I am sure everything we wheel on down here, I won't ever need a locker. I guess the lockers are mainly for those who ride in areas that need them.

well, as infrequently as we get rides together i dont think i would be worried about a little extra time. i know you want to get out in the woods the day you get it but from what i understand about the situation, i believe you should concentrate primarily on reliability and dependability. as well as safety on the road(cant have stuff falling off all the time) since it seems this will be your DD and weekend wheeler as well as the sole transportation for the family.

well. I am looking at a stock runner right now that feels comfortable, straight and has the power that I am happy with. I am not talking about the time between rides, I am talking about the time at home. I always get fussed at for working on ANY vehicle here at the house, whether its changing the oil or washing them. lol.

welcome to life........ if you enjoy it there are going to be things trying to prevent it and that you have to work around. otherwise you wouldnt enjoy it nearly as much because you would do it all the time and be burnt out. just part of growing up....

true but there is no give when it comes to me and my vehicles. I ALMOST have to do it when she is either asleep or not at the house!

Fixed that for you. It's cheaper to buy it pre-modded. It's more fun, at least for those of us who enjoy working on vehicles as a hobby, to DIY.
