I really don't understand what all the fuss is over the bumper cover. It's a piece of plastic. So what? Screw the damn plate on and get driving.

I live in California where obviously it is required... But I bought my truck from a dealership in Arizona which doesn't have a front plate law and had her brought out here. I had a bracket that bolted under the top bar of the bumper and ran it for a few months until I went to San Francisco and someone backed into it denting in the plate so I took it off and have been running without a front plate for about a year now.

    newheadrights002_39d41f463da0ddb0de02a58471ed682468cfe288.jpg

If I were to buy a brand new vehicle and a dealer drilled into the front bumper for the plate or refused to fill in the holes I would refuse to buy it and look elsewhere... But that's just me, i'm extremely picky with my vehicles.

I ask the dealership not to drill the front plate... i should be driving with one but figure I am able to get away with it for now since the truck is still new... i need to figure a way to instal one without drilling the front bumper.

Ha Ha Ha, I told them they'd be keepin' it if they put a hole in it.
Told the same dealer, the same thing when I bought my 2000 Solara, new.
Made a similar aluminum bracket for the Solara that's still held in place by the three "C" clamps I originally used.
    "Everything's Temporary" :D
    Anyway, back to the Tacoma
Took some measurement, went home, fabbed up some PVC and made a temporary bracket.
Cut it, Heated it to bend it, tapped it and inserted Stainless 1/4-20's for the plate.
Went back and froze my ass off, cable tying it to the aluminum inner bumper then left without tellin' them.
When I took delivery, the plate was on the temp bracket and the saleman said three customers wanted one.
And a fourth lady wanted to know if they made them for her BMW.
Anyway, this was 'til I received my Avid Light Bar and made a permanent bracket
Sorry I don't have better pics of the temporary one.
Details at the end, Enjoy the pictures...............

    Tacoma Bracket:
Fiberglass Angle, PVC Backplate, Stainless Steel 1/4-20 Screws tapped into PVC & Fiberglass
Fiberglass Angle held to Light Bar with Stainless 3/8-16 Bolts and Wing Nuts for easy removal.
Have Stainless Tamper Proof 3/8-16 Bolts & Nylon Insert Nuts (NyLocs) for security.
Lights are still able to be installed on the light bar with the plate bracket

Both vehicles brackets have survived speeds well in excess of :censored: mph without touching the bumper. (Hey, ya can't say that here)
    ......... let's just say they're Solid

No holes either in WA. Had to order mine since the 2013s were not out then, and they put a note on it not to be drilled at check in.

Ordered mine and told them not to add front plate which they protested at first since its the law. Told them I would deal with the law if I had to but I would not buy it if I came to pick it up and it had holes drilled in the front bumper. So far no issues with the law and no holes in the front!
