I'll laugh in ten years when 4x and lockers are giving him troubles because they've never been used. (of course, if he doesn't have the newest model by then)

Oh well, everyone runs their own path with their own difficulties I suppose. Such is life.

Speaking of lockers...my Prerunner has the rear locker and I was wondering how often I should engage it just to keep it functioning properly. I will use it for its intended purpose at some point, but right now I have too much suspension work to take it off road.

    So, the questions are:

How often should I engage it?
I'm assuming I should be stopped when I engage it, correct?
What setting should the automatic tranny be in when engaging?
How fast can I go once it is engaged?
How long should I run with it engaged before disengaging it?

Thanks for any input on this matter!

    Look at build!
I engage mine as well as the 4wd everytime I drive it. The locker will only engage doing 5 mph or less. I don't stop, I just hit 4x4 and locker on the fly. As for the gear, not positive with an auto.. I'm normally moving in first gear so I don't think it matters what gear your in as far as 1 2 3 or D as long as your under 5 mph. & I typically don't exceed 30 or so mph either or drive on pavement with it engaged.

I'd get on some gravel or snow or anything but pavement and let everything work once every month or two just because but I'm almost positive all those questions are answered in your Owner's Manual. Or at least some of them.
