What is wrong with people?! It drives me nuts how people can neglect and treat animals. It's so sad. Thanks for taking care of this little guy!!

I'll have to get some better pics off my comp of him.

The little guy is my sisters wiener dog.

What attracts you to a silver lab? Mainly the color?

Yes. I love their coats. If I didn't want a a silver, a chocolate is my 2nd choice. I'm pretty set on a silver though.

A rescued chocolate pup will be like $150, thats with shots, fix, and chipped normally. A silver from a breeder is at least $1000, without chip and shots and fix if you want to...something to think about for essentially the same dog just a different color. Plus a rescued dog will love you more.

No. But I would like to have a silver. I would have more opportunities to get a rescue dog.

If you like the color you might look into weimaraners. They are great dogs as well. As far as rescue dogs loving you more that's just rediculous. Here's a rescue for them http://weimaraner.rescueme.org/WestVirginia

Edit: didn't mean to put the mad face in my post.

Right. And the Easter Bunny is real.

I wish people would just get over this whole breeder vs. rescue thing.

The only breeders you shouldn't be supporting are the puppy mill kind.

On a different note, my foster dog Pink Floyd is growing some peach fuzz.

I'm taking bets on what color he'll be when he grows real fur. :D

Unfortunately he still smells like dirty Gorgonzola cheese. Hahah. He's super happy, social, great for all handling/nail trims, has met a million people and is totally crate trained. He has some muscles now and his bones aren't as prominent. He seems to like men more than women generally. Unless they're in full motorcycle leathers, then he's a scared Chihuahua, but that's workable. My own dog used to be afraid of that + helmets and now is very happy about it via good associations.

    Proof of new fuzz:

Re: Silver Labs, I would make sure the breeder has PennHIP or OFA hip scores on the parents and hopefully grandparents and other family members. Labs are prone to hip dysplasia, I've lived though that in a young dog and it's SO awful & heartbreaking. I don't know if Labs are prone to elbow dysplasia or cardiac issues or whatever else, each breed has its own common inherited, genetic problems that a good breeder should be striving to minimize for the breed's sake and the puppies' sake. :)
