1) in the usa, ...firearms ownership is at an all time high (has been rising steadily over the last decade), ...number of guns in civilian hands going up, number of gun owners going up...

2) in the usa, ...violent crime, nationwide total, has been on a declining trend over the last decade)...

1 + 2, ...sometimes equals 3, ..but in our case, the facts show that we have MORE GUNS, ...AND LESS CRIME...

...a universal truth: criminals, like predators in the wild, ...hedge their bets at surviving the predation (go for the weakest prey), ...and they know more and more people are fighting back, ...the profession becomes "less attractive"...

 

He's saying you can't use today's gun rate in comparison to violent crimes for the last decade. You will need to wait another decade.

 

If your hypothesis of more guns = less crime , why does it only seem to apply to the US ?

what i can tell you is that in countries that have introduced sweeping "gun control", like australia, like great britian, ...violent crime has actually gone up, ...so has property crimes... makes perfect sense: you take the boot off the neck of the criminals, they flourish, unimpeded...

try NSSF, FBI, and so on... look at the surge in NICS checks run in recent years... (NICS checks provide a statistical "indicator" of the number of guns sold through FFL dealers.. published each month)

 

Do you understand relationship? I'm not debating your two points, just how you like to tie them together. Show me where it says that because of increased gun ownership crime is down.

We still have a higher overall murder rate per capita which is the most important stat IMO.

...and most of it is the incessant gang violence we are plagued by... we also have a lot of drug-related crime, ...meth, etc... none of that is my fault, nor the fault of my guns... like i said before, ...i believe that canada has a much different culture than "we" do (can i say "we"?)..., and that is the crux of the difference, ...the "propensity" for strife...

Just because two things happen simultaneously doesn't mean that a relationship of causality exists.

Could be that the crime rate is going down because guns are going up, or it could be because the Red Sox haven't won a World Series since 2007, or it could be because the McRib came back. It's all hypothetical now until we get more data and more importantly analysis
