This may be my issue as well. My truck bed has only seen my brother's motorcylce, a few loads of mulch, a few small items from Home Depot/Lowes and the yearly aerator for the lawn. I'm probably not loading enough weight to notice any issues and/or hitting any bumps large enough to experience the bump stop hit.

Your friend's Chevy also weighs an ass ton on it's own so having stiffer springs isn't going to affect the ride as much as it does in a Tacoma.

I can't believe all you people have never really ragged out your truck.

I don't do it often, but I've ridden on the bump stops my fair share. I think I've even ridden on them post-TSB.

Thanks, I saw that after I posted. Something along the lines that Toyota used a sticker to lower the weight load rather than adding a 4th leaf.

I thought maybe you were a Clemson student, that was why I recommended BE Toyota...

Anyway, not sure about cost as I suppose labor rates could vary... but I had to sign off on the work when they did the TSB for me, and the total cost was around $2100... that was in September last year I think.

I'm not sure the TSB OFFICIALLY covers the 09 yet... but I know some on here have had it done. I'm pretty sure it applies to 4x4 or Prerunner though for the years covered. The dealer wouldn't do mine until it was officially covered, but when I had the TSB# and called after I read it covered 08's, they had no issue doing it right away.

It doesn't technically apply to regular cab trucks either, but I had it done on mine under warranty. If your leafs' part numbers are the same as those on the TSB you should be able to get it done.

I wouldn't consider it out of the ordinary to carry some weight in the back. Consider moving to a new house, buying fertilizer for a yard, home improvement needs, or a variety of other tasks. I'm not asking for them to haul a LOT of fertilizer, or tow a 5th wheel, or take a load of gravel, or throw in some oak firewood... I'm not asking for the Tacoma to do everything a F250 should do, but as TacoPrerunner said, it should do a portion of what it's advertised to do, and it's not unreasonable for us to be upset if a Dodge van can carry more weight :p

A lot of people buy things they don't need, too.

So why is the OP complaining? He's not alone either. As I mentioned, it wouldn't be as big an issue if Toyota would handle things with no fuss.

Even if Nissan makes a better product? What if Toyota starts losing sight of their customer base? Wasn't it believed just a few decades ago that a foreign car would never outsell a "never break down Chevy, Dodge, or Ford. By God, they are made by Americans, they got Detriot steel in those vehicles!"

I'm comparing ride stiffness vs. payload capacity, which I said aren't necessarily in conflict. Dad owns a Dodge 2500, probably weighs about the same. Whenever someone goes over train tracks, Mom yells from the back seat, "you're jerking my guts out!" Truck weight alone isn't going to solve ride comfort.

uhmm ok as other people have said i seem like a bitchy kid, it may be because im 15, that may be why the dealership dowent want to do it, but now i am mad again, my truck was muddy and the "washed it" to see what the part # is and i just went to look for myself and the part# was coverd with mud still, they didnt even look

I am the average Joe and I can tell you I carry heavy loads on almost a weekly basis for personal around the house stuff. I bought a truck because I needed a truck, other wise I would have gotten FJ. If it wasn’t for the TSB I’d be p’ed as hell.

I think Toyota left the suspension the way it is because it’s such a nice ride and an easy sale. But making some of the new owners wait for the TSB to be updated just sucks hairy nuts.
