if you are finding it tough to select gears, your clutch may be going. i had the same issue when i got my truck, and when the clutch gave up at 12k, i had the tsb clutch installed. since then it has been perfect. just an fyi.

I have had a tough 1-2 shift since new. I had the tab clutch done and got rear ended with a rebuilt transmission and the shift in 1-2 remains difficult under 2500rpm. I use 3k shift for that gear and its smoother.

Stick with it. The upgraded clutch is good. It's from the previous gen v6.

^Link me to the TSB please. This is by far my largest gripe with the truck, would love a fix.

Sorry don't have the pdf, but info on it is here.

If your Tacoma is out of the 3 year, 36 mile warranty, you will not receive warranty coverage for this repair even though it appears to be a manufacturing/design/quality related issue. The best you can hope for outside of warranty is manufacturer or dealer assistance (free labor, discounted labor, free parts, etc.)

good to know, its anooying because its not slipping enough for them to tell. its really sporadic. seems to do it more in the cold. Well see what happens

You have to get them to replace it on a good will. I complained to my purchasing dealer and they agreed to make me happy. They noticed the difference after replacing it, but before they couldn't tell something was wrong. They typically have to drive another similar model on the lot and compare it before.
