recommended a lift for a 2000 4x4?

    Planning on doing some work on my yota soon and i was just looking for some guidance as to which lift kit would be best for my 2000 4x4 extra cab. I was thinking around 3" suspension. Just not sure of a brand. Thanks

    What type of driving will you be doing, the lift we recommend has a lot to do with your drive style and where you are going to use it..

    Looks over function: net cost around $1,000 for eveything or so.

    This will lift you around 2.5-3 in front and level you out with about 1 inch lift in back.
    Bilstein 5100 adjustable front struts with old man emu 883 or 882 coils and a simple add a leaf in the back.


    More expensive but more practical option: Net cost around $2,500 for everything or so

    Coilovers from a major company that has spent a lot of time and money developing a direct bolt in replacement all in one unit that is re adjustable and a rebuild able for future tuning, A true leaf pack replacement from many company's are a great option in the rear.

    Icon, Sway a way, Fox, King all make front and rear shock setups for your truck and are very well reputed.
    Rear spring options are just as varied, You have Dakar, Deaver, Custom built, All Pro.

    Donahoe CO's, Deaver leaf paks, Lockright Locker, All Pro body armor ( sliders, front and rear bumpers ), All Pro under belly skids, Warn M8K w/Masterpull synthetic line, Dual Optima battery system, 4 ea LightForce Striker 170 offroad lights, 8 ea wired rock lights, and plenty more I'm sure
    whatever you do... don't use a drop bracket kit.
    Once those mods are made... it's difficult and costly to return/correct.

    No matter what you have read...

    I wouldn't recommend exceeding 2.5" of suspension lift.

    An exception can be had if going mid travel...
    using extended length CO's and aft. mkt. UCA/w uni-ball
    But I still wouldn't push that susp. lift beyond 2.75"
    ^ tho' many push to 3" of susp. lift with no noticeable issue (so they believe)

    IMO... I would stick to the oem susp. geometry...
    unless going with SAS or LT conversions.

    If a 3" suspension is stuck in yer head...
    then you might look at employing a 1" BL to help in compensation.

    I have 2.5" suspension lift coupled with a 1" BL.
    This gives me a total of 3.5" of total lift.

    Tho' close... it's still not enough to clear 295 tires at full stuff
    ( ^ to the bumps and full steering lock (left/right) )

    It was enough to clear 285's (32.5") tho'

    Wheel offset and backspacing will be of importance here.
    and is dependent on tire size selection.

    If you do a search here... or over at TTORA
    you will find many suspension options available...
    from budget minded upgrades, to high end adjustable CO's

    But in order for us to help advise you on what is right for you...
    we'll need to know more on what type of wheeling you do...
    and what monetary budget you might have for the upgrade !?
