While I understand where you're coming from, is taking someone alive who has no intentions of going alive worth the potential loss of additional officers? I really didn't see any scenario in which he would have been taken alive we've seen that he's been willing to open fire on officers whenever he's encountered them.

Just playing devils advocate here on this, but what actual evidence is there that he did that? Some random personal documents in a dumpster? Who in their right mind would leave that kind of stuff behind if he really wanted a war?

I am in NO WAY condoning what he did/if he did it. But I think a fair trial (if able to have) should have been had.

Well if it wasn't you still had a guy that opened fire on the officers at the road block then went on to kill another cop, shot another, while unloading a substantial amount of rounds on law enforcement. On the chance it wasn't him it would appear you had a similar looking guy with the same motive.

I guess I just look at it differently myself. It's not like a situation where you're arresting someone after the fact and bringing upon evidence to try and prove they did something in court. If you have someone you see actively shooting people I have no problem if down the road we here they intentionally set the cabin on fire. He could have come out and gave up if he really wanted.
