That never makes sense to me. You're paying more up front, not to mention the interest accrued over the life of the loan, to get a lesser amount later on. Does not sound like a wise investment to me.

Buy the vehicle you like because, well, you like it. You don't buy a vehicle (unless it's an antique or something) as an investment because it's about the worst investment on earth.

BTW, do your wheeling and dealing online, pitting 2 or more dealers against each other to obtain the best price. Then, walk in, sign the paperwork, and you're out of there.

I agree with the playing the dealers against each other. There are four toyota dealerships here in Columbia, SC and I went to all four and went back and forth and finally got my 2009 Super White Tacoma DC SR5 Shortbed with tow package for 23,300 out the door. I was very happy with this and the MSRP was around 28,000.

Good for you for walking out the door. You can ask to see the dealer invoice at the dealership and if they dont show it to them then you can say you wont do business with them. I would not pay more than invoice. I paid 350 less than invoice.

I am from the Boston Area and was looking to buy new and got a lot of quotes and looked around in the end I got a better deal on a used 06' and took it. You should not pay over 25,000 out the door for a 09' TRD Tacoma right now and that is BEFORE rebates, make sure they are not using YOUR rebates to make THEIR price look smaller (little trick). Plus I would print off the rebates and bring them in, there are some not even the dealership I worked with knew about, like the college grad cashback.

Also you always want to talk about "Out the Door" price, this way they can not try to slide fees in after the negotiation, if they try this walk and don't look back. Do NOT let them bully you! I actually had one Sales manager ask me if I was going to be a man and buy today if he started to negotiate, after I almost smacked him I got up and left. Don't take any crap and always know they need you way more than you need them. Anything you don't like just go to the next dealership in the area, there is prob about 20.

Good Luck and FYI the invoice price online is almost always not what the dealer pays. Hell they get discounts for buying in bulk, selling before certain dates, etc, etc.

Good Luck most of all do the homework on the truck, know the rebates better than the dealer, and the Kelly Blue Book price is not adjusted for the current economic slowdown so you can def put that price under KBB if not WALK cause nobody else is buying.

So MSRP on TRD Sport DC LB is $30,930
    Invoice $28,294 according to KBB

I was offered $25,700, which is $2,500 below kbb invoice.
Current offer is $1,500 off DC and $945 off some kind of Value packages..I won't qualify for current recent graduate $1000 off since I am paying cash..

On the other hand I was offered $24,500 for same as above but no TRD.

It sounds like everyone around here is getting better deals than what I was offered. Weird.. and I pinned everyone around Boston. $25,700 was from Boch dealer, which are were aggressive in the area..

If you pay in cash you can still get the Grad Discount, go here: http://www.buyatoyota.com/Specials/...om_tacoma_shoptools_specialoffers&referer=NLP

It lists the requirements, if the dealer tells you otherwise walk.

Good Luck, have you tried IRA Toyota of Danvers? They have been known for very competitive pricing and willing to negotiate big time for the sale, you just have to hold your ground and tell them if you don't get the price you want there is no sale.

After a while they will get out of you how much you intend to spend, I said 25,000 and after about 10 minutes of bantering he came back with 25,700 (or somthing close) I stuck to 25,000 and asked if he could make it work. He then went to 25,300 and said the 300 was a fee that he must charge for shipping, blah blah blah, etc. I stuck to my guns and said if the price is not 25,000 I can't buy it.

Lastly he pulled out how it was ONLY $300 and over a 5 year loan it is so minute...."he said your not going to buy this truck for a mere $300?" at that point I thought about it and said: "Your going to lose a sale for a mere $300?" and I acted like I was done for the day and going to leave. Sure enough he said he could get it for 25,000. Haha, like I said they need you a lot more than you need them, and if you don't get a fair price walk.

If you are paying in CASH you better get the best deal the place has done all year. Ask to talk with the owner, they love when cash walks in.

On 5/25 I paid $26.1k + license and tax (no other fees) for a loaded 09 DC long bed in Minneapolis. Sticker was close to $32k. I worked with four dealerships for a few days to get that. I'm happy with the deal I got and I certainly love the truck...

At Boch Norwood, I walked out on $25,700 offer, didn't feel like it was the best they can do. Plus the sales guys were idiots, treating me like I was there just to kick the tires.

Later I went to Boch Attleboro, was offered $25,400 for Speedway Blue, that they had to locate for me. They couldn't and didn't bother to get me back in to see what they have in stock.

I am going to wait for July 4th and maybe even Labor day sales. "End of Summer Sale" seems to be promising, since 2010 may come out...

I talked to a guy at Norwood on the phone the other day that sounded like a carnival pitchman. What an ass. On the website They've got the TRD listed @ 27k MSRP and 25k Invoice. They ain't selling squat right now. The markets canned due to the economic environment. Hang tight and tell them to bite it if they won't negotiate. Try Braintree, IRA, PRIME.
