Hey guys. I am new to this forum. But not new to Tacomas. My dad recently just bought a 2011 double cab Tacoma. Which is what drew me to this forum! Also, I own a clean 1989 Toyota pickup!
I work at Toyota as a Technician, out here on Long Island, NY
For anyone looking for a good mechanic, feel free to shoot me a pm or email at Rocketpower45@hotmail.com

Welcome to the forum. I'm a newbe too. I've have a 2011 access cab 4.0. What's Toyotas take on oil changes frequency for synthetics like Mobile 1? Any suggestions on increasing mileage? I've installed a K&N air filter but don't know if it helped or not, other than cutting cost on air filters over time.

With synthetic oil, I'd go every 10,000 miles. All the new cars in the Toyota line take synthetic and we tell the customers every 10k
Like any other car/truck just keep up your maintanence and drive slow!
Also, I'd say every 30k or more, you could do a fuel injection service to keep your fuel system clean. That helps with fuel efficiency
Make sure you clean the k&n filter prob every 15k

    Thanks guys

Great thanks for the oil and air comments. One other question: I'm a ham radio operator and want to install a VHF unit in my 2011 Tacoma but I read somewhere in the manual not to do so. Could cause interference with some vital electronics in the truck. Any thoughts on this issue?

Haha thanks guys! I'm here, so feel free to message or email me!

With that radio setup you want to use, there is a possibility of interference with the computers on the truck. All these new cars and trucks have over a dozen computers controlling every aspect of it. They do say certain things could cause issues with them. I honesty couldn't tell you if that radio would or not. But in my opinion, I'd give it a shot, and if you start having random issues with the truck, then I'd say to remove it.
