Yeah, Bianchi....don't know no Binachi, lol. Knew what you meant but you woulda still lost on Wheel of Fortune :D

I notice the shadow of a cassette in the background which brings me to the point of I almost made this a 1x8 but didn't want to clutter it up with shifters. But that woulda made it more appropriate for this thread tho I suppose...except that no bigger tire would have fit in the chainstays.

Ok. So got the fork off and found that I in fact did not break the tube like the mechanic and I thought. It's unseated from the crown and just really really loose. Is there a way to press that back in?

i can pretty much spin the tube free of the forks.

Not to my knowlege. Find someone with a welder and tac it on the bottom? I would normally just replace the fork at this point. but a "Tac" should do the trick if you dare. Then again, that looks like AL and steel so a tack wouldn't work.

Drill a hole through the both of them and a bolt? or a hex pin?

Spelling error, my bad. Isn't that the shadow from the disc rotor?

The crown race should be exactly 30.0mm inside diameter. The fork itself should be about 30.1mm, making it a tight press fit. Measure the crown race (the part that comes off easily) to see if it is slightly too big - it is the easier (and cheaper) part to replace.

it was a klownbike post so I was just clownin with the spellin. That pic he posted with the shadow wasn't my bike. mine isn't sporting the cf fenders or stock rim/tire and there are no disc mounts back there. I used an A2Z adapter to mount mine.
doubt you'll see too many of these with rr discs or too many at all, lol. but after further review there is also no der hanger so it'd have to be a bolt on rim with rear der that thevwheel keeps in place so now I don't know what the shadow is...

Thanks, it is. I feel like it has some weird spell that makes you laugh and smile ridin it around, not that it is just a kooky good cruising comfortable bike. I saw it and had to have it, especially since I saw the fork right before finding the bike. One of the best 100 dollar bike buys I have ever threw coin at. The fork wasn't bad price either. Sister fork to the one on my offroad yellow ss bike back a coupla pages. Wife wigs over the horn and really doesn't like the rollo bobblehead thing I found the other day either. She won't even allow either of them in the house..........

Im trying finish line teflon lube for my chains now. I used to use rock n roll which is what a lot of people recommend i just wanted to try finish line since i read it was good too. definitely use a dry bike lube for the chain.

as far as grease goes. I use park tool polylube. The grease you use is probably fine for parts. Don't use it on the chain.

what he said, the grease is mainly for bearings and i use it mostly on the threads of pedals when I swap them around.

    Yes, I sold my '13 Taco. :'(
For anything that requires grease(front axle, bottom bracket, headset, etc) I always use Phil Wood Waterproof Grease.

I'm a HUGE fan of White Lightning products. (http://www.whitelightningco.com/)

For cassette/chain, I use White Lightning - Clean Ride.

It's a wax based lube that basically sheds all dirt/dust/mud/random trail grime off your drivetrain. It's great stuff. I've tried tons of other stuff and this has given me the best life out of my cassettes and chains as well as the best self-cleaning. I throw a thin coat on everything literally after each ride, no cleaning needed. You basically can completely degrease/re-lube when you can't stand it anymore(as my LBS says lol). I completely degrease after every 3-5 rides depending on how dirty the trails are.

Here are a few shots of my Butcher and my friends Blur TRC after some straight mud rides @ Braille Trail in Santa Cruz. Look at how clean the cassette and chain were compared to the rest of the bike LOL:

For degreasing chain/cassette I LOVE Clean Streak by White Lightning.

Here are "after" pics of my Butcher from that mud ride:

The White Lightning chain cleaning attachment is awesome. Best part is that you don't have to buy a separate solution for the chain. The can is the solution.

Uhhhh, We NEVER used that. a tooth brush works better. I like to remove the chains when I clean them anyways. Powerlinks are great.

Yeah, I take my chain off with the power link. Put it in a small ziplock container. Spray it, let it soak for a few minutes then scrub it gently on all sides with a brush. After that, another squirt or two and I run the chain through a rag many times. Dip back in the container and rag it down once more.

Once its clean, I take another container and coil the chain in it. Spray or squirt an LUBE of your chice and let sit again for a few minutes. Agitate (shake) the container a couple times to get the chain moving and help the lube get into all the nooks. Fresh rag, wipe the chain off once and reinstall it with the power link.
