I have a 2012 tacoma and i love it. This is my second consecutive tacoma and i never considered getting a different vehicle. However, i am in the medical industry and between meetings at hospitals and client businesses im not sure this is the right vehicle to drive.
im not sure im sending the right message pulling up in a lifted tacoma to meetings with doctors and businessmen.
With that said, i have been considering selling my truck and getting either a porsche panamera(i have a kid) or a 7 series BMW. i would love to keep the truck and get a "business" vehicle, but i already have another $600 a month payment on wifey's Q7.
I've considered driving wifey's SUV for work, but then she would look out of place pulling into her job with this truck as well.
    i love my truck.
i want to keep my truck....but i cant afford it all.
    what should i do?
    What would you do?

Consider getting a cheaper "business car?" and still keeping the truck.

Otherwise enjoy your truck and dont worry about it. Who cares if you look out of place. Our president and CEO drives a Buick Lucerne haha.

Pulling up to a business meeting in a Tacoma says you're ready to meet them for business anywhere. Sand dunes, mountain tops, mud bogs, you'll be there to meet their needs! :D

If you love the car keep it, it is what you want to drive. If you are worried how it looks you could always rent a car for a day or two, enterprise has great rates during the week for busnessy cars (I made a new word, just for you)

its not like your driving an 89 izuzu pickup rustbucket straight piped.

its a NEW truck, let alone a toyota, that shows you have money, or atleast look like you do

now if its was a 2012 kia soul, eh. trade it lol

    Thanks guys for the advice.
It is a new truck, but with a tube bumper, lifted, and usually dirty, I do look out of place.
I considered getting a "cheapy" car, but I'd hate it.
Also, I'm 6'4" and pushing 260. So a smaller, even most mid-size cars are extremely uncomfortable for me.
I don't know...I've been going back and forth on this one for the past month.

If you don't do you job well and meet the goals or sales expectations you employer wants from you , you won't have to worry about what car your driving , be true to who you are and keep the truck !

I am the employer..I've owned my company, with my brother, for the past 15 years.
Lately, I've had to meet with more doctors and healthcare organizations. When we go to lunches, I try to avoid having them see my truck. My brother drives an X6 M, and he's really been pressing me to get a luxury car versus driving my truck to meetings. I hear where he's coming from...hence the quandary I'm in.

Flaunting wealth via an expensive vehicle shouldn't make someone do or not do business with you. We cant you what to do here. You should drive what you want to drive not what you think others think you should drive. A vehicle is can be an extension of your personality. Drive what you enjoy.

Wash the dirt off, and you will be fine.
I am a bit cautious to do anything to do anything to my truck (BHLM, tinting, debadging/painting) because I do cut grass in the season, and I don't think it looks professional.
Looking at your gallery, and seeing your triangular (skid plate?), that does look a bit unprofessional, including the entire vehicle being black.
And being that you are the owner, I think its okay for what you have. I don't know why that changes it, but it does.

I would think your product or service would be all that matters, not the vehicle you drive.

I am a doctor and just sold my modded Evo X for my Taco.

If people choose to pick their doctor based on his car......not really into those types. Pick me based on knowledge and skill. Not on my lack of a Mercedes in the lot.

It never hurt Sam Walton either.

The best is when I show up driving my 462 CI big block 72 Skylark.

I agree that wealth or the image of wealth shouldn't matter. Unfortunately, I live in los Angeles, and as much as I don't care about it...some people do. I could be driving any car/truck I want and I choose to drive my Tacoma.
I have been in very uncomfortable situations when I have to drive a client somewhere for lunch or dinner and they have to climb into my truck.
My nationality (armenian), dictates I must be in a BMW or Mercedes...but I'm not that guy. I would prefer to stay in my taco.

Have your brother swap with you for the BMW for meetings and lunches.

I guess when you get older you just care less what others think. Keep your truck. Let them drive you to lunch if it is below them to be seen in your truck.

That works only part of the time. He has meetings as well...and he hates driving in my truck.

Perhaps there are favorable lease deals you can find or perhaps something a couple years old. Or is having 2 vehicles yourself 100% out of the question.

Did you say you couldn't afford the Tacoma but your looking at getting a Panamera or 7 series? Something doesn't add up there. If you want something more "business" like but still retains the capability look into a 4Runner Trail Edition or a last gen V8 4Runner...

They never make me feel like it below them to be in my truck. I'm the one with the reservations about it. I also could care less what MOST people think about what I drive...but this is businessmen and women in Los Angeles and it really is somewhat unprofessional. Hasn't cost me any accounts yet...but I don't want to risk it at the same time.
I just got back from san Diego on business, and the hotel I stayed in has a lot of business people. I see them all getting into buicks in the morning...there's a reason for it.
    I appreciate everyone's input.

I could afford the Tacoma and the q7, just can't add another payment on top of it.
I considered the 4runner...but knowing myself, I would put 35's on it with a lift and make it look like the Tacoma I already own. I'm impulsive like that sometimes.

I see your concern about your business image, but I feel you should drive the vehicle that you love and want to drive. People shouldn't make judgements based on what you drive, the clothes you wear, tattoos you have, or the way you talk. I think it would be shallow to judge you for what you drive. Good luck, I hope you make a decision your comfortable with.
