    Thanks guys,
How does this look? It doesn't say Porter Cable XP buffer, but that is what I got when I searched for Porter Cable XP buffer.

    http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs...ads-_-pla-_-203054743&ci_gpa=pla#.URxOAGfURjU

Do you have a package of attachments for the polisher? Or what I use to wax. I'm not sure if I need to use different pads or whatever for certain applications. Autogeek has the Porter with attatchments, but for $170 and up.

That is the XP you have listed in the link. The model number is 7424xp which is a newer, more powerful version of the 7424. At the very least you will need a backing plate and 3 pads. 2 more aggressive pads for polishing and then a fine pad for waxing.

Backing plate: This page lists the pad color along with the cut:

X2 nice choices. Once you start to use the PC you will find a lot of additional uses for the machine.

How about this kit? to go along with my Porter. I won't need a backing plate if I get that right? Will I need to buy more pads?
Do you have a product you recommend to clean the pads?

So I had a detail performed on the truck yesterday afternoon. I walked into pay and walked back out and Debo is standing in the bed of my truck washing the roof with a brush. Now I have swirls/scratches in the paint/clear coat. I have had luck with meguires scratch 2 but still not 100% gone. Any suggestions?

Was it at a professional detailing shop? File a complaint with the manager/owner and make them pay to have it detailed/polished/fixed by another (better) detailing company.

Nice starter kit for the PC. I use a pad cleaning bucket and a pad brush.
This does go on sale but it is still expensive. Sure does beat cleaning the pads by hand.

You can use this brush and a larger pail that the PC can fit down into.

For those just getting into detailing with the PC-7424 XP, do a Google search for "junkman2000 pc-7424xp". It should bring up a bunch of how to YouTube videos. The guy is very good at explaining the finer points of detailing and paint repair as well as the do's and don'ts. He also does quite a few reviews of different brands of detailing products. He is pretty funny sometimes.

Not all microfiber towels are created equally. The softness of the fiber as well as the fiber density are very important things to consider when buying towels. I have never used the Sam's microfiber towels, so I don't have any firsthand experience with them. I'm guessing that those who have used the Sam's version have found them to be not very soft or that they tend to hold dirt particles.

They are good for under the hood work and working on nasty wheels.

X2 and they scratch the paint faster.

Try to get the Cobra Delux Juniors when they are on BOGO at AG.
