f*** you bed bolt

just stripped one of mine ... not happy at all right now. All were coming off perfectly until this one (out of 6) decided to be a bish

 

Tap on them a few times with a hammer, clean around them so theres no dirt or dust, zap them with WD40 nice and good, and turn them off the next day.

It worked for me.

 

i've worked on a lot of tacoma's and the bed bolts almost ALWAYS put up a good fight. can you cant get under some of them to heat'em up with a torch. When i bought my 2012 one of the first things i did was the D-ring mod on all 6 bed bolts and covered them in anti-cease before reinstalling.

 

Remember, these beds are NOT metal. Applying heat could do more damage than good.

 

I'm with the guys who say put the socket in and wham it with a hammer a few times to break up the rust on the threads, seen it done on tundra frame recalls, and they were REALLY rusty. Shouldn't need heat to get them off

I needed a larger handle socket to do mine to get more leverage.

 

I was lucky I guess......... T55 1/2 socket and a 1/2" dewalt impact.

worked like a charm for the extra D-Rings
