i might be working on a diesel swap option for my truck (dad's idea actually) now i need to figure out if the tranny will be able to be used.

anybody know what tranny i have? or what power it can handle? 2.4, 5 lug, manual.

 

Whats up SD peeps Douggie whats up old man sounds like me reckless has been in the garage on blocks for a week and a half now. Awaiting new Radiator, Water Pump, hoses, Fan, and all neccesary gaskets, plus new belt and pulleys .

 

like 300 horsepower... why not just turbo it since you plan to never smog it again anyways...

 

when i move i'll have no reason to be LT there's no whoops or desert in mississippi. (that saves me a bunch of $$$$$ to put toward a engine swap)

 

Hey Matty !! I did a little run up pine creek 14S02 this afternoon, sloppy as hell & as you'd expect, they locked the fuckin' gate,

So the red menace is up on blocks huh ?? what happened ?? This sounds more like a punch list of parts for an auto accident !! did you smack something ??

 

Engine swap is a waste of time and money.. do a bolt on turbo or SELL THE TRUCK... and buy a fullsize with a V8.

i love the sound of a turbo, i can run red dye if i turn it into a woods truck (i'd do my bed like brad's), and if SHTF i can make diesel.

our goal is be out of cali in 2 years, but i'm hoping it's sooner.
i also like to plan ahead (dream).

 

but i don't want a full-size, if i did anything to this truck other thana engine swap it'd be a frame swap to be a 6 lug, or SAS

Aftermarket water pump failed and bearings went. Fan and pulley snapped off throwing fan into radiator.

 

An engine swap isnt that costly if you're patient... Increased low end torque and better mpgs make it sound soo good. Its when you have most the parts and just want to get it going that it gets real expensive

 

i'm thinking down the road do a 4x4 SAS with the diesel (5-10 years, after i finish college to be a mechanic) if i can find a parts truck it's cheaper than doing it part by part.

so i found a guy who SAS'd his 5 lugger, i have to admit, i like it and with help i think i could do this, especially if i get to take the welding classes i want.
