I got new rims and 5100's installed last week. Everything was fine. But yesterday. I was doing a round about right turn to get on the freeway at like 35mph and all of a suddun there was a grinding and my truck pulled way to the right. I stoped and looked at everthing and everything look fine. Then this morning the same thing happened on a differnt round about free way entrance. Im trying to get an appointment at toyota but they dont have any openings for a while. What do you guys think is wrong? My tire isnt hitting my my mud flaps because I dont have any.

Sounds like a wheel bearing to me. Make sure your lug nuts are tight, especially since a shop has had their hands on it. Try to feel your hub on the backside of the spindle for excessive heat, where the axle would go through if it were a 4x4. If it's hotter than the left side, it's your wheel bearing. Which means get it somewhere safe immediately and get your wallet ready.

im wondering if his wheels are really close to the caliper, and when turning that fast it flexs just enough to touch the caliper?

    just an idea.

Sounds like something that happened to me after changing suspension components. Did it trip your VSC? Did it feel like your antilock brakes were being triggered? If it happens again touch the brake pedal lightly and see if it's pulsing under your foot. If this sounds right, the solution is proper alignment.

Yeah, depending on the wheel specs, it still could be a clearance issue.

that should be fine. take a look at the calipers to see if the wheel is rubbing, look to see if anything is rubbing the UCAs, and take some pics of the lift parts so we can look to see if the look kosher.

    Just a thought,

did you happen to bend your brake rotor dust shield? I bent mine a little when I was installing my new driver side CV axle, and after that every time I turned to the left it made a horrible cringing grinding sound.

I checked to make sure nothing was hitting the UCA's. Ill take pics if toyota cant find anything. I didnt install the rims so I couldnt tell you if dust shield is bent. Thanks for the suggestions guys.

99 4Runner springs all around: 1" over factory.
This probably isn't the problem, but depending on how the new 5100s were installed, is there a chance the UCA ball joint to spindle isn't tightened correctly? If it's moving around, then it could cause the vehicle to pull and allow the wheel to move to a point where it can grind on something. Sorry if this doesn't help, only thing I could think of.

Sounds like vsc was triggered.. Apparently lifting the truck a tiny bit can make it over react

So I picked up the truck after toyota inspected it. It sounds like they checked everything. I drove it around and did some more fast turns I couldnt get the noise to happen. In other news my wife got me tires for Vday.
