What do you guy's think of the Tundra?

I have been looking at getting a fullsize truck to accomadate my Tacoma. I have been looking at the Tundra, Sierra, and F150. I know about the Ford and Chevy as I have owned them in the past. I don't know much about the Tundra and I'm still not sure I like the way they look. Just looking for some opinions.Thanks

 

If I were to ever go into a fullsize, I would get a Sierra, I test drove one and it was close to the most comfortable vehicle I've driven... Plus the newest models are tough as balls...

Never driven a Tundra, so I guess this post is really no help...

 

I was looking at fullsized trucks for a year from 6/06 to 7/07. I have always had Tacos but had a hard-on for a big truck.

I looked at Ford, Chevy, Dodge, Nissan & Tundras.

The big 3 were very BLAH. If you need to tow 14K & need a 1-ton type of truck though, you may need one of these.

For some reason I thought the Tundras were very expensive so I was focusing on the Titan. Beautiful truck. Did alot of research & they had rear diff problems.

I happened to stumble inti a Toyota dealership & fell in love w/ the tundra. ABSOLUTLEY STUNNING TRUCK!! Head & shoulders above the rest if you need a 1/2 ton + truck!! I bought a 07, 5.5 liter, TRD 4X4 dbl cab. Freaking great deal. I returned it 3 days later for a 08 Tacoma (I didn't need the big truck & missed my taco)

IMO if you need a full sized, look at the tundras LAST, then buy it!!

 

If you're sticking with Petrol go Tundra. If you're going Diesel hit up a Ram. Love the Cummings diesel engine.

 

I had a 04 Tundra SR5 A/C before my Tacoma and loved the truck, To me it was the perfect sized truck. When new ones came out, they were just too big for my tastes. I don't think their ugly or not well built, just too big. I watched a guy w/ one pull into a parking space one day and he could not open his doors enough to get out....It was a normal sized parking space with two medium size cars next to him. Those doors are really long.

I'm not a Dodge person and also think they're on the big size but some of their engineering has really impressed me lately. Might be worth a drive....

I agree... If you want a diesel, you can't beat a Cummins

 

F150 hands down. Best 1/2 ton full size truck. No way around it. Great frame, HUGE HD Rear Diff, Very solid truck. Good manners. I love the new F150. I'd love a FX4 Xcab with a 6' bed, 5.4 Auto. E-Locking rear diff, and all. But you have to justify (or afford) having such a large truck if it's just for driving to work with a brief case. Titans have very small rear dana 44 axles which are a joke for that big of a truck. MPG's on that truck really suck too. and it's the oldest model; outdated will lose value quickly. F150, New Dodge, GM, Titan, Tundra. In that order.

What do you mean by "accomodate my Tacoma"? Are you going to tow it around?

 

Seriously, why are you asking us for our opinions on the Tundra? Isn't yours the only one that matters?

I wasn't especially enamored w/ the Tundra until I saw and extra-cab 4x4 at work that was lifted. That looks phenomenal and it's just a work truck.

 

well i really would not get a ram since they went bankrupt. but really consider the Chevy or ford for a diesel but the tundra is sick if u want a gas truck.

 

Go to one of the Dodge dealers that is closing and get a smoking deal on a Ram.

 

^Good idea. That would help the local economy since he would have then have to frequent a private mom and pop garage for all the repairs he'll need on that DUDge.

 

My neighbor has 3 Dodge trucks, uses them for his delivery service. He puts about 1000 miles a week on them, towing a trailer for about half of that.

I haven't seen him doing repairs other than some of the usual stuff - a new thermostat, hoses, shocks, tires etc.

Also, Dodge will be around for a long time - they are just paring their dealer network down.

Who says they will "be around for a long time"? The government is running them now, they will be worthless.

 

That's true, but think about the mileage also. They only get 15/19, which is terrible, even for a work truck.

 

Support my company, if you go Diesel, buy a Cummins.
