I thought I was lucky that I haven't felt a thing, but today I crammed in four other people in my taco and got a slight vibe @ 20mph. Didn't do it all the time (made multiple stop and go's), but I did notice it twice. Again, it was slight, but it's a brand new Taco and now I'm paranoid. Something I should be worried about/do anything about?

Brand new Taco? Mine didn't start until around 500 miles.

Sounds about like mine. Now with over 2000 miles, if I drive it easy I have no vibration, but if I give it moderate acceleration around 20 MPH it will always do it. Carrying a load or going uphill makes it even worse.

I didnt notice it until after my 1st "ToyotaCare Service"...
something every 2012/2013 Tacoma owner should be concerned about in my opinion...
new trucks shouldnt ride/drive like this. even if it is minimal/somewhat tolerable - its there.
over time it wil worsen and like someone else said...

what happens when this issue leads to other issues & then your out of warranty?

Toyota needs to do a full recall if you ask me. none of this TSB b.s.
they know its an issue they are just trying their damnedest to skirt the issue with these "bandaid TSBs

+1. And because mine is a 6 speed manual, Toyota has not issued the TSB for mine. There probably so few of us 6 speed owners that it's more economical to just write us off.

I'm pissed to no end and working on shoving this truck up Jim Lentz's A$$. Oh, it's also due to my transmission popping out of 1st gear all the time and Toyota saying "it's normal and we can't do anything for you". I think it could be related to the shaking drive train.

Toyota isn't going to issue a recall unless the vibes create a safety issue that is when recalls are issued for vehicles. The 2nd gen of the Colorado that's coming out looks like junk, hopefully they will fix all the issues the first gen had. I traded my 05 Colorado for my Tacoma you couldn't pay me to drive a Colorado again. I had so many issues with the Colorado is was just ridiculous, electrical on those trucks is garbage.

Yeah mine was fine the first year to, put some miles on those rados and everything falls apart. Plus build quality just wasn't there at all on those trucks.

    welp....

    I have a new 2013 TRD

It has a vibration between 10 and 25, but only if I am accel hard

I can drive it and not experience it

I am not convinced the current TSB will fix it, since it is
just replacing the same parts with same parts...and throwing a weight in the steering wheel

    I have the basic 3x36000
    I have the 7x100,000

I am gonna wait this one out for a year or two, and see
if Toyota will come up with a betterer fix...by then if it truly is
chronic and unfixable with current TSB...(seems to be) they might
have something a lot better than sticking a heavy weight in the
steering wheel just to dampen the vibes

In the meantime, it is a truck and I never did expect this to be 100% like
a car. I expect it to haul crap up logging and skidder roads with not much fuss

a little vibration [when I am driving like a dick] is not really a big deal to me,
and I know it doesn't do any harm (you can BEAT on a Tacoma and not kill one)

    ------------------

In the meantime has anyone inserted 2 small spacers into the carrier bearing clamp and
    had success fixing this ?
one poster (forgot which thread) said they just stuck 2 small spacers and the prob went away

I know this is a TALL order; but for peace of mind for me (and probably others) could someone post a video of the vibration? I can't tell if it's just a slight vibration or a "spill your coffee" sort of thing.

Thanks in advance for any takers.

Here are some videos of the driveline vibration. In the cab it can feel anywhere from very mild to you start wondering if you're breaking apart on re-entry. Well, maybe not quite that bad... :)

I wonder if it is due to the spring u bolts being torqued to 37 ft lbs from factory

this will be one thing i crank on in a few weeks to test up to 75 ft lbs

I did that and it did seem to help for a while. Now a couple weeks later it's just as bad as always.

Missing My Last Tacoma --- Had 11 Toyota trucks in the past and many other Toyota cars too.
    .
Now ... after reading this thread again and checking my truck closer ... here are my thoughts & experiments on my vibration.

Some readers said they can't duplicate vibration at the dealer ??? ...

I have noticed that my vibration is mainly when these drive shafts are c o l d.

    Did some experimenting below:

Example ... I warm up the truck in the driveway for 5 minutes to a good engine temp (engine is warm). Then I slowly drive through the subdivision (about 1/2 mile) all flat surface and slow with cold drive shafts & drive shafts bearings.

Then outside the subdivision ... I turn right up a slight hill and 100% of the time I get a bad vibration accelerating up the hill with a medium throttle ... between 1,900 up to 2,300 RPMs.

If I go slow (up the hill) or if the drive shafts are warm (from previous driving) ... I get little or no vibration.

Cold drive shafts (and bearings) + slight incline + medium throttle = driveshaft vibration @ 1,900 to 2,300 RPMs ... = perhaps a possible cold driveshaft bearing problem ...

Eh, it'll never get fixed, it's a piss poor design, look at all the thousands that have tried.. and the people that do say they fixed it, don't really believe most of them.

Why yes, I do own both tacoma's. Paid for everything myself with my hard earned money like most of us.

Lots of things are annoying.. Toyota can't fix everything. Look at all the problems other vehicle manufacturers have.. at least our frame doesn't flex so bad that the box hits the cab (Nissan)

I only posted that thinking you were just one of those guys saying "its a truck, it vibrates like trucks do, just deal with it"
I will continue to "baby" my truck in hopes Toyota will come up with a fix. If so I will be a happy camper once again. If not Im considering the one piece driveshaft solution. If I get fed up enough whats another $500 investment in the truck to stop the vibrations?
