Wow. Now i know what you guys are talking about

My leaf suspension SUCKS! I went to Lowes today and got 16 bags(25 lbs each) of Large Pine Bark. and in my neighborhood we have some mellow speed humps and right as i went over them the back end smacked against the bump stops. Scared the heck out of me on the first bump.

Then I had to go back this time with 10 bags and it tapped the bump stops that time.

So I've decided to get a AAL in the next week and stop this non sense.


I would have gotten the TSB done sooner if I knew about TW. But unfortunately i didn't.

But it handled VERY good with that weight in the back.

 

It's ridiculous, isn't it? Now try doing 70 on I95 and hitting the bumpstops. That'll make your butt pucker.

 

Try it at 80

 

I got the TSB done and regularly carry 1000 lbs in the bed no probs.

 

Why is everyone so surprised when it hits the bumpstops? Especially after reading about it and THEN going and loading up and having it happen?

 

Cause! ...uhhh...it's surprising.

 

Well I wasn't used to the actual feeling of a truck hitting the bump stops. Remember this is our First ever truck in our family.

I didn't know it would do that with such little weight.

The speed bumps scared me enough. I though the people behind me smacked into the back of me

 

Just what were you expecting? It's only been described on here what? A giggazillion times. You had 400lbs in the bed (I am guessing it was all at the very rear of the bed), and you then hit a speed bump? Hell, hitting a decent speed bump other than crawling over it will jar the hell out of a truck.

Time to trade up to a real truck. I'll give you $100 for your clapped out Yota.

 

I moved my daughter out of her townhouse at college. My 2006 was packed to the gills: Passenger footwell, passneger seat. back seat and footwells up the cabin roof, the truck bed was so full it was 3-4 feet above the roof of the cabin and I was seriously afraid I had overloaded the truck as it was very noticeably sagging in the back. I lashed it down really well and drove from Atlanta to Charlotte....smooth as butter. Absolutely no bottoming out, no wind drift. I have not experienced the problem mentioned.

 

Chill out man. Almost everytime I tell people about my driving experience you ALWAYS have to put me down about it.

I dont drive or act like you alright. Im not going to do what you say what is the "right and wrong way to paint" or "trade up to a real truck".

If you cant say anything nice or anything like that then just stay out of it.



And sometimes you dont get the full feel for what your reading until you actually EXPERIENCE it.

 

I did, last week on I95. It's rather disconcerting.

 

Well Ive heard that some people have that lucky truck were they had the strong 3 leaf pack. and that there was no need for the 4 leaf. Where did you have the furniture? towards the back of the bed?

 

yeah the speed bumps, that what did it for me too!

Mine still hits the bump stops post tsb when I get heavy bulk compost or topsoil or heavy bulk mulch. It is better than it was though.

I've not put you down...trust me it'd sound more like "what a dumbass you are for even posting up this lame ass attempt of a post." THAT would be a putdown....I was no where near that. Simply asking you what you expected to feel when you had 400lbs of weight in the bed and drove over a speed bump. Big difference.

You know it sound, to me, that Im alot more mature than you right now. Im not trying to come back with pathetic come backs that were from the 3rd grade.

So what im going to do is say...... This is OVER. Alright No we can both live happy...... well me anyway

 

It was all over the bed.....bureaus, tables, chairs, bins, believe me it was heavy as the truck sagged considerably. I was tempted to unload much of it but just couldn't do 2 trips. There were a few dips I hit on the freeway at 70 where I thought it might bottom out, but it never did. I was impressed.

 

Haha the funny thing is that my truck rides a little better with that weight in the back... but it hit hard on the bump stops though. 10-15 mph and like I said before it felt like the person behind me smashed into my bumper.

Thanks can't wait. nah its really not. especially when you have to get 5 bushes and 1 Huge sycamore tree. But my truck handled it with ease. Im proud of it

 

If I get time tomorrow, I'll take some pics of the suspension in the back. I have no idea what it is....I am "suspension ignorant". I read all the threads on "lifts" and "spacers" etc on TW and all I know is it raises your truck (not sure why you would need to)
I thought my 2006 had an independent suspension in the back. It doesn't?
