We are in total agreement. No one should follow anything they think is wrong. How and why you think the teachings of Jesus are wrong is bewildering.

i do think that you shouldnt harm others/steal/kill/yadda yadda yadda, but i know that from myself. i dont need someone else to tell me that. if i want to read a book and believe in impossible things, i'll pick up harry potter or an ann rice book. at least then its entertaining

Meh, you're just lazy and don't want to study anything that would require you to put other's before yourself, or what you think you were born knowing. Someone taught you how not to steal, kill, etc......you think you were born knowing those things?

no one taught me to not steal or kill. thats kind of something people know not to do. thats baic right and wrong kinda things. i'm not lazy b/c i actually challenge things that are brought to me. a group of hobo's slapped a book together a few thousand years ago...AND? what makes that book any more special than a fable written now? someone TOLD you that you are supposed to believe it, do it, accept it, and try to convert others. i've done plenty of studying and question asking to clergy and many things they have no answers....just like the book itself. lazy is saying that everything happened because he wanted it to....and he did all these things because he was who he was....and yeah, that jonah lived inside a whale because he was put there for a reason....cmon. if any of that doesnt sound the least bit farfetched or needing to be questioned, i've got some ocean front property in arizona...its simple to say that the one guy did everything and thats it. that seems lazy and complacent to me

EDIT: oh...and i've been active duty, currently national guard, have a contract position on a military installation, an associates degree, about to have a bachelors degree, a wife and a beautful son, all because i'm lazy and sat on my ass hoping and praying it would all fall into my lap

You misunderstand my use of the term lazy. You seem quite satisfied with yourself and your contributions. If you are perfect in our own eyes, then I suppose there is no need for you to study His word. He doesn't measure success the way you do.

i'm far from perfect and would never state that, but no one is. there's no way that anyone could do everything completely straight laced their entire lives. i was putting those achievements out there to the fact of calling someone lazy....apparently you have a different definition than i or the dictionary, does the bible have a glossary???

la⋅zy  /ˈleɪ[IMG]zi/ [IMG] Show Spelled Pronunciation [ley-zee] [IMG] Show IPA adjective, -zi⋅er, -zi⋅est, verb, -zied, -zy⋅ing.
–adjective 1.averse or disinclined to work, activity, or exertion; indolent.2.causing idleness or indolence: a hot, lazy afternoon. 3.slow-moving; sluggish: a lazy stream. 4.(of a livestock brand) placed on its side instead of upright.
    –verb (used without object)

In the context of our discussion, I thought it was obvious. I was referring to "moral and spiritual laziness" - thinking that because you don't steal, kill, etc. you are a good person and don't need to improve or better yourself. You treated His word as fictional wizardry by comparing it to Harry Potter.

if i am doing my part to be a good person, keeping my family safe, and helping others as needed, that takes more work tha a lazy person would do. and i compared a book to a book...

it just seems to me that the more involved people become in church, the more they judge others. You would think that god loves everyone and forgives people for anything. god does not judge and if you sin he will forgive you.

im not against the bible at all or any religion..But my question is why would anyone join a church and change there ways based on a book?..When most kids are raised into the church system, the kids are raised to believe what they are told. So if this is done your whole life This is how you base all your life choices. How does anyone know that this is what we are supposed to be doing or thinking? and i just dont think a rule of law can be based on a religious belief, that no one can prove

How else do kids get raised? Where do you get the system of morals and values to teach to children? The public schools certainly don't do it. In fact, the public schools have virtually erased any spirituality from their curriculums altogether. They are disintegrating. Anyone that can afford to sends their kids to private schools, more and more of which are run by churches. Every single one of the 80 Seniors that graduated from Charlotte Christian this morning are attending university, with the highest % of National Honor Society students and Ivy League college acceptances in the schools history. This is a Christian non-denominational School, accredited in all respects with one of the highest Advanced Placement student participations in the state. Several perfect score SAT graduates. There is no public H.S. in Charlotte or the entire state of NC that even comes close to this record. It's interesting when I hear questions as to why would you believe a book (Bible). I ask why would you not want to? His message is love, forgiveness, redemption....it has survived centuries of debate and attack and yet His word continues to be the most influential message for mankind with the greatest impact on human morality....and yet with each generation it is questioned, attacked, denied.

thats great!! im very glad that they get such good grades and move on to universitys...but does not mean that what they are being told about religion is right and how would they know if it wasnt if they were raised that way?

and to be brought up in a church system like in a bubble of people that believe the same thing, who would challenge them to speak out about how they feel about it..what would the kids do in the real world where not everyone has the same belief. The kids would all of the sudden become the outkast in a society where the not all believe this. I think we all learn right from wrong without the church system...the kids in church might be great at book smart things and getting good grades...but put them in a non church setting with no support and see what happens

You are searching for facts when the issue is "what you believe in". There are some things I don't know, but I believe in them.
