The drain hose from the dishwasher either needs to connect to an airgap on top of the sink, which then connects to either the garbage disposal, or a fitting where the GD would be mounted if there was one, OR the drain hose needs to come up to the very top of the cabinets, just beneath the top of the sink flange, and then go down and connect to the GD or fitting. The key is that the nasty water from the sink drain or GD would have to travel uphill to get into your DSW. Take away the airgap, or "high loop", and you have a stinky dsw.

Thanks! I thought maybe it was just cause we weren't running it that much since it's only the two of us. I've been running it more often but it doesn't seem to have solved it. I guess if worse comes to worse, I could replace it, but it's a Bosch and seems like a good one so I'm reluctant to do it.

Hi guys, I have a quick question. I was installing an Ro setup under my kitchen sink yesterday, and I noticed I have 3 shutoff valves under there. One for hot, one for cold, and one that doesn't have any hoses attached to it. What's the third one for?

I'm hoping it goes to my fridge water line so I can hook the ro to the icemaker.

I can take a picture of it at lunch.

    Thanks!

That would be my guess if it's a cold water line

Depends if its on the hot or cold line. Cold would be for the ice maker. If its on the hot line it would be for a dishwasher.

Hard to say. The valve on my fridge is in the wall behind the fridge. Pics? Could it be for your dishwasher? Is that near by?
May even be there for the purpose of hooking up an ro system. :notsure:

How can i tell which line its hooked to? Close either the hot or cold and see if water comes out when I open the third valve?

There is also a shutoff valve behind the fridge.
    The dishwasher is indeed nearby.

Is it safe to increase the water pressure in my house by adjusting the main valve out the house? And, how do I do this correctly, Thanks

Assuming you're talking about a pressure reducing valve (PRV) then yes, you can adjust it by turning the bolt "in" or clockwise typically. If you are talking about a shutoff valve, all you can do is open it all the way. A partially closed valve will have no affect on pressure but could affect volume. If you have a picture of the valve, that would help.

Hard to tell since all 3 are spread apart. I mean usually you have 2 on hot side, one above the other.
You could run the hot in sink until its hot, then check the extra angle stop. Open it with a rag over it into a bucket. It won't take long if its a hot pipe.
I've plumbed houses with hard and soft water at kitchen sink.

I hope this thread is still active.
The faucet in my kitchen, a premier brand, single handle and pull out, just stopped working completely.
A few days ago, the water pressure was half of what it should be, a very small trickle, and it happened instantly, not over a period of time.

The center portion of the faucet swivels, and the piece above and below it have always been kind of lose. It bothered me so I would always try and hand tighten them, but it didn't do much good.
So, just today, the faucet completely stopped working. I tried to mess with it a bit, but I don't really know what I am doing. I unscrewed the nut that holds that faucet to the countertop and lifted it up, but everything inside is sealed so I can't see what the issue is (if inside the faucet).
So I am wondering what the problem could be, is it something inside the faucet itself, if so it it fixable? Should I just go ahead and replace the thing?

btw: I already checked and cleaned the aerator and screen.

It is huh? I don't know anything about plumbing, but I can tell that this thing is garbage. I am almost 100% the faucet itself is the issue. Thank you.

Hi mr. plumber, how much can i expect to pay to have a new water heater installed? my water heater is in the attic, went to home depot and they quoted me over $300 just for labor. the heater it self only cost $360.00. is this something i can do my self or do you recommend hiring a plumber?

    thanks for your input.
