What kinda wood is this OZ?

 

Looks like maple of alder

 

or

maple or alder

 

Found a bunch of it in the woods here. Burns good, nice and dry unlike most everything else we found, splits easy.

 

Could be something else , there are a bunch of deciduous trees that grow out east that we don't have here , but alder is an easy splitter and dries quickly

 

I'll vote maple

 

Prob not maple in the pine barrens

 

They are in pine barrens so I would say an evergreen of some sort

The bark doesn't look evergreen. It's a smoother bark

I'm not an arborist, but a nj native, and I don't recall many maple trees in the pine barrens. But I could be wrong
