Not a fan of drywall myself but like you I've done it enough to know what to do at least. I've hung most every room in my house now.

 

How are you at inside corners? Those are my absolute least favorite type of joints to tape.

Taping an inside corner, like the corner of a room or where the ceiling meets the walls. The room is all new drywall so I'm taping joints, not repairing holes or patching.

 

One of my personal favorite ways to spend the day..ugh

 

Done that at my parents when finishing basement. Wasn't bad at all. It was over the summer actually. Get tape with crease and fold it. Compound corner, tape and press down center lightly, compound don't rip crease like i did. still sucks to do ceiling to wall

 

I've got the tape with the metal strips in it, it makes it easier to tape the corners. I can tape the corner well enough, I just have a hard time making it look good.

 

I think the mesh tape might be better for corners. Ive seen other tapes bubble along the ceiling from temp changes. I could be wrong tho

 

Amen..that's the tape to use for anything really. I've used regular tape and the mesh is just way better.

 

Ha. At least you guys dont have to tape this. Tapers nightmare

 

Reminds me of one corner in my house, damn pocket door..

 

I use the mesh tape for the butt joints, not the corners. The tape with the metal strips makes it so you get a nice, crisp corner. The mesh stuff is awesome but not great for corners.

 

It can be a bitch, but if you use your trowel you can get it the corner pretty well. Your tape is prob a lot quicker for the corners tho

 

That would work Evan..at least it's worth a try first. I'm not sure how well it will hook up since your hole is a little larger but can't hurt nothing. If that doesn't do the job, then it's still not much harder to cut to the studs and screw the piece in.

 

Having an amazing day doig a little shake down run with the 8 ITB's tuning and such. Car was from Denver a tuned for 5000feet
