Does your heater work well when really cold

Just trying to find out what others with a 2012 dc think about the heater on days with low tempertures such as 0-10 degrees. Thanks

 

Same heating system on the 2006, and mine is hot as shit after it fully warms up. Even in -30*c

 

Funny, I was thinking my heat could be a few degrees warmer.

 

Works fine in my 2007, even in really cold temps.

 

my 2012 is fine once the truck is up to temp, from dead cold i let it warm up to about 100deg water temp, I dont start gettin good heat till about 170ish, but running the heat cools the engine off too, so it may be taking you longer to get it up to temperature

 

My '07 takes a while to warm up but once warm it works great. It wasn't pushing a lot of air recently so I changed the cabin filter and it works much better now.

 

I have a winter cold front on my 2010 . Need it up here . Was - 45 today with the windchill . Heater defrosted the windows fine . Just gotta turn the radio up when running the heater mind you . The bushings in the heater motor are finished . I have 3 years of warranty left and the stealership says the noise coming from the heater is considered normal . I am ready to cut a huge hole in my firewall and throw a FORD heater motor in place of that noisy Toyota peice of crap

Where I live mine seems to work fine though, IMO, the defrost lacks regarding the side windows. Good news is, I only have to scrape frost a few times a year unless we have a bad winter.

 

Absolutely. It will drive me out within 5 minutes.

Got to turn mine down in about 15 miles and we have had plenty of cold this year.

 

I have to turn down the temp setting or my feet will melt. Cold or colder outside.

 

the fix for that motor takes about 20 minutes or so. Mine has been going strong for a year now. Nice and quiet

 

Mine takes ten times longer than anyone elses car to warm up to a decent temperature. It it either gets ridiculous hot or does work at all.

 

This here. Warms up fast and then I need to turn it down or else I'll cook, no matter what it is outside. I've owned many vehicles and very few had heat as good as this.

 

What I've noticed with my 2013 Dbl Cab is it takes awhile for the coolant system to really get warmed up and after that the heater is like a flame thrower but until it's fully warmed up, it's marginal at best. Mine, depending on ambient temperature, takes a good 20min before the heater starts to put out any serious heat. My daughter ski races and they train during the week after school till 8pm and on the nights when it's down around zero it seems like I'm half way down the mountain before it gets much heat in it. Of course the fact that I'm going down hill doesn't help build much heat.

 

Weird.

Mine is spitting out hot air at the mile marker from my house. Fully hot before two. I have no issues with the heat.

I will say we don't 0-10 very often, maybe once or twice in the last year. But we've had a couple weeks worth of temps below 20 at night and I've never noticed an issue.

 

Never had it below 30, but once the engine is up to temp, I can't run my heater higher than 30%.
Are you idling to warm the engine or driving?
Chris (and a few others) compared and the engine warms up a LOT faster being driven than just sitting there burning gas.

Obviously, with a remote start, it's going to be idling, and in that case, expect it to take as long as 20 minutes to get up to 180 degrees on a day when it is around 30.

 

Whats the fix ? I have read in former posts that nothing works ?
My heater is louder than my stereo

 

heat is great in mine but it only get like 20 here lol
