    Sucks that you keep getting crap units.
    I was gonna order one of these straight from China but was afraid of the manufacturing quality of these units.
    Just call you credit card company and have them reverse the charges and send the crap back to them.

    Well all good recommendations I have considered putting a target on it , and practicing but it still has many months of warranty left and replacements available they do run out of stock often though they have to cover maybe eventually one will do the job .
    I am suspect the software is at least a major part of the problem on this one the software which creates at least some of the problem and they are not providing any updates although they say they know of it and will email a fix has not happened yet one time I got one. I found the newest full version just released genuine software that in the description and a conversation with the supplier says it addresses most of the issues I am having.
    I ordered it and the software guy who is familiar with the Ottonavi said he is going to set it up for my particular unit he ask for model and screen resolution before he ships it which he shipped yesterday .
    The software that comes with the Ottonavi is just a basic stripped down version of the retail version which I was told is not Genuine and was told most Chinese products are not Genuine software The retail version does everything supposedly their ad says it will according to the supplier, Like 3d buildings will go straight to the GPS map without all the steps needed with the Otonavi version has bog fixes and updates incorrect directions with the Ottonavi version. The only reason i have not pitched it yet is it does blend in to the dash well although it does not have quite a factory fit with inconsistent gaps and each unit fits differently but it is close enough much better than the Pioneer I have and was going to install in it I tried Metra, the Scosche, and AI adapters and none worked well.
    Funny thing is the newer ones THEY HAVE SHIPPED THE clock only reads in 24 hour or military format on the Radio clock, the selection for 12 hour is not there anymore the first 2 had a 12 hour selection with AM or PM for the system which displays the radio portion of the clock the gps DOES HAVE 12 OR 24 HOUR. Although they would fight each other and the radio usually went to 24 hour or vice versa they would not set me would rather they have made the GPS 24 hour though.

    Ok latest I purchased the real IGO 8 2012 Q2 supposed to be the latest released IGO map not what comes with it, The unit did have IGO Maps and they had a patch for IGO from Ottonavi none from Ottonavi worked right all the supplied by Ottonavi copied versions has many issues . The one I purchased has cured 95% at least of my problems it works as well as my Tom Tom which has its own little issues. The system software patch the one they are supposed to be working on that has never appeared, is the system time that has nothing to do with the GPS for a couple months now. I really think nothing is being done about it and they are very much aware of all these issues. I have been told by them I was not the only one having the issues after 4 units they have not corrected anything though some had issues that would be hardware related but a promised software patch to correct a couple of bugs in the Programming of the system itself, has not happened. I keep being told they are working on it now. I can live with it though. I just miss having a clock when the GPS is not being used that has regular time and not the military time, you can take a quick glance at without having to rethink to Military time, The map I bought has fixed almost all the quirks it had it does have a screen under the gps that will display the speed, altitude, time, estimated time of arrival direction as a compass etc it has regular 12 hour with am and pm so I usually use it.
    Now the Blue tooth link on this will stream music from my iphone a first of the 4 they are supposed to do that. I do like the IGO8 map so now I think this is working as good as it ever will because I think they are not working on a patch for the software and they will just keep putting me off until the warranty has expired and that will be it with them that is my opinion. Since they did this with the 30 day return .I asked to return it for a refund after having more problems out of the box, and they kept wanting me to try different things until it went past the return within 30 day period and would not acceopt it back after I tried their patches for 2 weeks OTTONAVI would not accept it back even though I had asked during the middoe of the 30 return period. They were the ones that postponed it to get it past the 30 day period.
    The radio reception on this one is about normal for what I got with the factory so I can live with this unit it's just an expensive unit that does not work as good as an odd ball brand I got on eBay an OUKU is faster and works better I will try and copy the IGO map and see if I can figure out how to use it in the OUKU if the OUKU was shaped right it would be a better unit I think it cost 169.00 on eBay when I got it.
    I do think Ottonavi since they cost so much for so a low quality they could at least make the button lights match the dash lighting for the custom or supposedly custom fit. They could spend more time making sure the fit will actually fit like a factory it is close but I have made some shims to center and line it up with the surrounding bezel. I will never buy another Ottonavi . They could as well have incorporated the can bus into the unit their competition does this and there is no internal mic on this Ottonavi it has to be stuck somewhere outside the unit. I have mine on my steering colume and had to buy an after market mic to reduce the background noise cause this picks up everything, the cheapo OUKU does have an internal mic and it works better than the one that comes with it. The canbus adapter is difficult to get all the extra wires stuffed into the small cavity.

    They aren't official vendors. They just sell stuff here. I almost got one when they first came out ~a year and half ago but it just didnt smell right to me. Glad I stayed away.

    I remember seeing that guy (ottnav I think) posting all the time promoting the product about 6 months ago. Haven't seen him for awhile tho.

    He piped in on another Nav thread, and in Devman's thread he showed up to say that they DO care about their customers and don't just go from forum to forum selling crap.

    I don't hawk threads for negative reviews but after reading this post..I figured it was appropriate to offer my side of the story....

    I had a really hard time looking up this customers order [DEVMAN] as I was not provided an order number. I had to search blindly among the tens of thousands of orders we have. Anyways, I found his order and pulled up notes.



    as going back to devman...can you guys explain how I have been unfair to devman...he has issues with his radio...most likely from installation errors, anyways we go ahead and offer to send him a new radio but he would have to wait as we were out of stock. Cust left a deposit and shipped radio back to us. We refunded the deposit AND REFUNDED HIM FOR SHIPPING So him paying shipping both ways ? I think is A bogus statement Want the PayPal transaction Id for the refund? PP # 3J50477597850263M....I mean you can continue to lie, but look up that paypal transaction Id and you will know the truth...

    So, please dont give us the lies of how you did this and that thinking we wont find your order and read all the notes. Each time we talk with a customer we document what was said and discussed between us. I have been nothing more than fair with this particular customer even offering to pay shipping both ways for his replacement unit. I am sorry he has to pay hefty customs, but if we declare the package for a lesser value and item is lost or damaged during transit is the customer going to pay the difference ? I mean we are only insured what is DECLARED ON PACKAGE. So if I say radio is only worth $300 so customer can avoid customs....who covers the other $400? I guess you cant always tend to everyone's need....

    Now going to the issues of our radio..we have sold thousands of these radios. If these were hwo devman or the OP of this thread makes out the radios to be dont you think theere would have been many more threads? I mean just look at other reviews....theres always two sides of the tale..

    I do not know who devman is but why is it when something fails repeatedly these pass the Buck apparently Obama fan guys always blame it on the someone else or guy installing their plug and play unit, but it is a plug and play system it comes with its own wiring harness plugs that only fit one way and one place, and you put a few screws back in to hold it in the dash and oh yeah the hole on the front that says mic is nothing it requires stringing a cheapo provided mic externally that plugs in to the hole labeled Mic on the back.
    So it would be really hard to mess up an install the only wiring is plug in the provided antenna adapter, screw the gps antenna on to GPS labeled plug which only fits one place string the GPS antenna to an open area which has ale=ways received a good signal so no erroe installing there and plug in the supplied prewired harness which is a bit cheesy in it self and has no volume control on the can bus adapter for the terrible sounding chimes .I had to wrap tape several times around the speaker to quiet it down some. The Ouku sounds like factory not some ww2 submarine sonar chimes like this one .
    This unit is not as good as a cheapo ouku period. OUKU has a much better sound better antenna reception. This one is slower and the screen does not respond as quick from touch , as the OUKU I have in my puller truck .
    I am in the process of putting in a Pioneer once all the adapters gets in .
    The Ottonavi group apparently just wants to blame people fior their poor product, and it was not as easy to get replacements it took weeks at a time of them stalling and wanting to try this or that, each time of constantly calling in and sending videos for me to get replacements the and each one had some software issues and the one I ended up with that does work somewhat only after I bought a real map not a pirated map for it.The map they provide is much of the problem it is part of a map not a complete map.
    Each time they told me it was a software issue and they still have an issue which they promised an update on and never have provided it.
    I was asked for an order number, yesterday signed on this morning funny how they are so slow to respond for warranty but expect people to jump at their beckoning call.
    But Ottonavi does not respond to my emails anymore asking for the long ago promised updates so why should I reply to them so they can make accusations of install problems cheap shots.
    I had to pay over 30 bucks to return it 2 times they covered the 4th one, which I had to put up a deposit of 400 for them to do that and had to file paypal dispute to get refund they stalled me past my 30 return period after I called in and wanted to return it for a refund last October, with wanting me to down load software patches what they said patches to down load until the 30 days past and then would not take it back.
    They paid shipping on (((( one))) and one came from Amazon. All in all I had months of hassles with this which it is nearly impossible to install it incorrectly and it been the internal workings that messed up. Low down dirty shame they are blaming it on install cheap shot. It is plug_and_play as it says in your ad...read it sometime.

    First and foremost it is easy to make such bold statements as

    when we cannot even defend our position because we do not even know who you are. Do you mind if I request your order number? Also, who have you been emailing because my personal email has been posted on this forum and I do not recall an email from a customer complain. Just like Devman has been saying his emails were not responded to...I NEVER received an email until recently.

    As for being slow to respond, we try and get back to each customer within a 24 hour time frame. Sorry, if we are not responding back within 5 minutes. I do understand some responses are quicker than others, but that honestly has to do with just chance. ALSO IF YOUR ORDER WAS FROM AMAZON AND YOU SAY WE DON'T RESPOND...PLEASE CHECK AGAIN. BECAUSE OUR AVERAGE RESPONSE TIME TO EMAILS IS UNDER 20 HOURS. I mean maybe you emailed us on a Friday? and we did not get back to you until Monday. Well, our Business hours are M-F 9:00AM-6:00PM PST. So sorry if you contacted us during those hours.

    We never make accusations saying the radio is not working because of possible install errors. We can only suggest that perhaps a customer is not installing the unit correctly. I am not sure why you take offense when someone asks you to recheck your work. OBVIOUSLY install should not be hard at all as you said one plug goes into the back of the radio and the other end into your factory plugs. But what if a wire gets pinched? What if you did not plug in the harness all the way in securley? I mean surely you will not want to take the radio out again to check, so you probably SAY the install is done 100% correctly.

    I mean look here is a perfect example. I have customers who call us saying unit does not take DVD's or CDs. Our first repsonse is always: "did you remove the two screws on top of the radio". I mean i assume everyone who buys our radio can read right? They had to read the information about the product before making a decision, but they simply overlook something as a RED STICKER SAYING REMOVE TWO SCREWS! So, when we ask if installation is done correctly this is said on behalf of majority of customers who do not install radio correctly....JUST LIKE YUO SAID READ IT SOMETIME! [this is not saying you are one of the customers who did this but maybe you can see where we are coming from... Also in your case, the problem may have been when trying to upload the new software. This is not so plug and play, and can get tricky to some. That is why we ask customers to ship back to us and allow us to update.

    NOW FINALLY THE QUALITY OF OUR UNITS....

    Let me ask you? How can this product be used by actual car dealers if it had so many flaws? What car dealer would want to purchase these units, if they don't work? I mean, were talking over thousands of cars, with this particular nav installed. I'm sure there may be a couple more "unhappy" customers, but out of hundreds we sold via forums I am hearing negative feedback from only two sources. I am sorry we were unable to meet your expectations, but it seems the other hundreds of orders are content and do not have issues. As for the map problem, we are currently working on that. However, please keep in mind that the maps you receive are FREE. We can provide "legit" maps, but customers would have to pay for these as they cost us $80 if not more...

    Also we do not stall you till 30 days, its just we CAN NOT REFUND UNTIL ACTUAL PRODUCT IS SHIPPED BACK TO US. We did not refund your order? Hmm...i would like to look up your order and see exactly what went on. I apologize if you tracked your return and expected a refund immediately. It does take up to 48 hours to process refund. Once refund is given, it takes time for PayPal or credit card company to actually deposit money back into your bank account. I mean, I am not sure what exactly happened with your situation, but if you can PM me your order number I will be more than glad to take a look.     Well now that I have a perfectly functioning Pioneer that works as good as your claims.
    I will respond this one last time so you can say what ever. I believe more denials and accusations from you and making it as if I am lying will further prove the poor attitude expressed from Ottonavi .and I see you again are making cheap shots and you offer tech support from Amazon, but of course now I expect you to say Amazon are liars too.

    I too kept every email could not keep the 25 to 30 phone calls I ha d to make but do have a phone record of the time on each call, and the multiple excuses used in your emails I will include a few since there are over 50 emails I have saved .
    I was given multiple excuses for slow response from your techs and about 10 unanswered emails.
    I was stalled to past the 30 day return period and I asked to return it prior to the end of the 30 day but was given instructions to try downloads
    A few responses from you .

    Can you reply back with your order number and I can send you a new SD card
    to see if that solves the problem otherwise we will need to switch out the
    whole unit. Usually if the SD card is getting hot it’s because the unit is
    trying to read it and the circuit board is not relaying the correct


    Me--- I am thinking we just want to return it since all you are doing is sending a
    card when that is not the problem I have read online and a lot of people are
    having this same problem so it must be a design flaw.


    Sorry to hear that you are having the same problem for so long already and we are in no way try to delay the return process. Once we get back the unit we will send you a new unit and also a free rear view camera ( By the way they never sent the camera) for all your trouble and once again I apologize for causing any inconvenience.

    I forwarded to the shipping department and we currently out of stock and our container will be here tomorrow. It was delay during the Union strike that happen in the Los Angeles port but I have ask them to upgrade your shipping to 2nd day air so once we receive the item tomorrow it will be ship out.
    Here are the steps you will need to follow in order to fix the time issue with the GPS unit.

    1.) Remove the SD card from the unit and put it into your laptop/desktop
    2.) In the SD card you will see 3 files: Backup, iGo8 and Devising
    3.) Double click on iGO8
    4.) You will see a few files: content, custom defaults and etc…
    5.) Find the text file named SYS and double click it.
    6.) It should open in notepad or word.
    7.) Once this file is opened, erase everything and copy and paste this on there:

    From you again I sent them a message and they are currently trying to look for any type of update to fix this issue. I will let you know as soon as I get any type of update. Thanks and sorry for any inconvenience.


    The last messaged I received from the factory said that they were going to look into it. As of now, I haven’t received any other message. I sent out another 3 to see if I can get an update…but nothing. I’ve also been playing around with the units to see if I find any kind of setting for it but no luck yet. I’m very sorry for the long wait but as soon as I receive any update I’ll let you know.     I’m very sorry for the delay but I have not been in the office as they have me going all around companies to train their techs. I’m really not sure why the reception is getting progressively worst on the unit. If you use the remote control and hit 0000 then the middle button on the control (while the unit is off) it will take you to a factory settings page. On there, you will see an option for FM AREA; make sure it is set to USA. If you’ve already done this or after doing it, you continue having reception problems…then the antenna booster will definitely work. If you continue having issues, please let me know ASAP so that I can help you the best way I can. I have linked this email to my phone so that I won’t delay any emails.     Of course I expect you to deny these you do everything else, but in your how to video's Bryan does many of them so you may not want to deny him.
    I went to a Pioneer brand which works flawlessly right out of the box has a normal sounding volume controllable door chime not a ww2 sonar sound that scare people in the cars next to me, it is so loud.
    This last one was the best operating Ottonavi I have had yet and they have removed the clock function of being able to select 12 hour am or pm only displays military time and on multiple times map would not load I have to reset and start over with complete setup, I had to keep a Tom Tom, in the console because out of town looking in unfamiliar areas I needed a spare GPS, never knew when the map would have to be reset.
    The buttons on touch screen started out of the clear blue got in turned key on and they started losing their functions the button name inside their outline it would disappear and they’re was a blue button shape left but no longer had any function the clock function never got an update which the clock at a glance is important to me traveling in heavy traffic to be somewhere on time.
    I dislike having to stop and think what time it is when glancing at the clock in heavy crazy traffic usually put it in the GPS screen when it would load so I could just pay attention to traffic.
    I merely copy and pasted a very few responses from Ottonavi out of some of the 60 emails I have saved, but it is clear their attitude is sell crap and blame, accuse and criticize the customer keep responding Ottonavi your true colors are emerging in vibrant color.

    I replied to this so I could say how wonderful the pioneer system works and operates it is true quality. Maybe they should copy it too. Well maybe not it would mess up.
    I highly recommend a pioneer and it does actually look almost like factory with the dash adapters the near factory fit the Ottonavi has is it's best and basically only reliable feature.
