What where the reasons the service guy gave you, about it not working? Just curious.

They didn't really give me a reason why it wouldn't work. What they did was try to tell me that I couldn't return it, because I was making an unauthorized mod. I made the mistake of giving them my VIN# before giving them the Part# I wanted.

    1. First they told me I had to pay in full because it was a special order. It actually wasn't, because it was in stock at their sister dealership; but I did that.
    2. Then they said that it was a "Final Sale" because the part # didn't go with my VIN. I reminded them that return policy clearly stated that if the package wasn't opened, I could return it for a full refund within 14 days. There was a little back and forth on that. Finally they agreed that as long as I didn't open it, I could return it if it was the wrong part.
    3. Then they said it wouldn't work because the timing mechanism was "probably" in the wiper motor, not the stalk. At which point, I explained the overwhelming evidence to the contrary on the internet, on Toyota forums, on Tacoma SPECIFIC forums!
    4. They sold me the part.

Are all dealers this dumb??? The part from the dealer is only $150! If I owned a dealership, I'd be selling this "Upgrade" ten times a day for $250.

I guess I won't be trying this dealer to get the seatbelt chime turned off. :)

They already do that. They charge you the MSRP price and they charge you quite a bit extra on top of that.

You can do that yourself. No need for the dealer.

    This probably belongs here:

The air recirc button in my 2012 seems to be on a timer, except maybe when the A/C is also on. But when the heat is on, the recirc definitely shuts off after a period of time. Has anyone figured out how to hack this? It's kind of annoying.

Thanks, yeah, I was wondering what they said to you. The worst people at the dealer are the salesman, It's so funny what they will tell you about a vehicle that they think they know.

It was my understanding (from searching those threads on these forums) that the procedure from earlier models to turn off the chime did not work in 2012-2013 models, and that you had to go to the dealer to get the seatbelt chime turned off. Am I missing something?

That looks about right for me. Perhaps he thought you had an earlier model.

I think there is a cable that you can buy that will allow you to do some of that kind of stuff fairly cheap. I'm not sure since I dont have one that new, but I think I read it in a thread about something else.

Well I just finally did the mod for anytime fog lights but used the trailer light realy instead and just need my parking lights on I figured this was easier for me and besides I don't really ever use the tow package is there any disadvantage to doing the mod this way versus using jives?

Hey man I'm gonna try this mod out. Am I understanding that this also disables my ABS?

    Which mod?

You're on page 68 of a thread that has dozens of mods and you didn't quote anything.

Just a heads-up, some of the Mod links are coming up with "No thread specified" when clicked. (sad panda)
